The play-doh argument is ridiculous. A play doh doll is inanimate. No life, no conscience, nothing. Or, if it has life, we are incapable of recognizing it. So, with this analogy, are you going to tell me that God is incapable of recognizing us as being alive, being cognizant?
Also, the basis for the beliefs in God are statements made by Man. You believe in something told to you by other men. So, as a man, I tell you to believe in the tooth fairy. Will you do it? Only if there's something to gain from doing so. This goes back to the basis of these arguments. You "want" to believe. It is make-believe, fantasy, creative storytelling, but you want to believe it. So, you have faith in that which is being told to you by others. Not because it is true, but because you want it to be true.
And why would you want it to be true? Because the alternative is just too dang scary. Belief, particularly the belief in God, is therefore rooted in fear.
