I second JR on the Cold War issues.

And really war is always going to happen, this thread can even be viewed as proof, as well as others on this forum, because people disagree, loose there tempers, and get emotional. Which causes fights and eventually violence if taken far enough.

Do you really think wars are begun because of tempers? If you had said violence will be with us because of hot tempers, maybe. But wars are generally calculated things entered into by governments, not one moody individual. And the reasons for them are too numerous to list here with any accuracy.

Well I don't know what you mean by major conflicts but for the USA we have:
Korean War 1953
The failed attempt to overthrow Castro's regime 1961
Vietnam war 61-73
The Gulf war 91
And not to be forgotten the battles against terrorism. 2001- ?

@LoneWolfHero:
Have The USA, England and the USSR been 'deeply involved in many major conflicts' after WWII?

As for the Cold War... thta was fought by proxy in several places, and some of the conflicts we see today are remnants of that time.

As for how "Hot" the Cold war actually was Some major conflicts funded or participated in by Either the US or USSR or both

Korea
Viet Nam
Angola
El Salvador
Chile (notice the US couldn't abide with a moderate socialist so installed a Right wing dictator not once but twice)
Afghanistan (where we trained many of the people bent on our destruction now)
Nicaragua

and the list goes on and on. We (the US) have been responsible for more death and destruction of nations economies and lives in the name of "spreading freedom" since the end of the Second World War than any other nation. Much of this was done covertly in our name under the CIA with Presidential Approval. We helped destabilize the Middle east twice now in the past 100 years (Iran in the 70's Iraq in the 2000's). We have kept large amounts of central and south America in poverty in the name of keeping communism in check and fighting an ill advised war on drugs. So while I will say again I may love my country and love the ideals that it was founded on and stands for I do not have pride in the actions that my Government has made in my name both publicly and covertly

No one can be worst than Bush in my country dummies of bush were burnt

That doesn't mean he's bad, even though I am not a George Bush fan. People credit Obama like he's a god over stabilizing Iraq, but all he did was pull out troops shortly after he came into power, which Bush probably would have done soon anyway.

i don't like bush thats my opinion and everyone has different opinion have you ever heard of Mahatma Gandhi

Everybody needs to be more like the Irish; don't kill, assimilate! In 1800, Ireland had about double the population of the US; in 2000, the US had about 60 times the population of Ireland. About 40% of the US population and 30% of Australian population has some Irish ancestory. I'd say there alternatives to war if you want to take over a country.:p
