BUZZKILLING HISTORICAL NOTE: Even though a lot of NVA regulars fought with the VC, especially after the Tet offensive, the VC's and NVA's objectives were actually quite different. The NVA was the regular army of North Vietnam, whereas the VC was a guerilla force that operated only in the South.

Shall we start? I think we should start in April of 1968, shortly after the end of the first phase of the Tet offensive.

Hoài dropped his backpack on the ground beside him. It had been a long and exhausting day, marching through the South Vietnamese countryside. Only a week earlier, he had been on the outskirts of Xuân Lộc, seeing his comrades torn apart and nearly becoming a casualty himself. His VC allies had been decimated in a military defeat unlike any the NLF had seen before. The only logical course of action was to disappear into the jungle and regroup. The sun had set, and he was too tired to walk further. He lay on the ground, resting his head on his backpack on the bare ground, out in the open with no cover. The few remaining men of his company, no less exhausted, promptly followed suit.

A United States Marines machine gun position opened fire on the approaching contigent of NVA troops approaching it through a rice paddy. Cutting down many before they retreated into the nearby cover of the Jungle... "Sir the Americans, they have a machinegun ahead and it's slaughtering our men trying to get through the rice paddy!" Jean turned turned around and looked into the eyes of the scared NVA soldier. "Can you not attack them another way?" "No sir." "Can you hit them from this range with gunfire?" "No sir I-" "Shut up you confouded fool! If you tried you could hit them!" With that Jean pulled out his SVD and at the edge of the jungled zeroed in on the two marines at the machine gun. "Now watch, all of you idiots!" Jean fired twice, both marine's heads exploded in a pile of bone, meat, and blood. "That's how you do it! Now forward, forward for the glorious people of Veitnam!"

Jonesy peered over they edge of the sandbags as as sniper took out too of his men on the machine gun. " Meeedic!!!!" But then he relized that was usless on account on how both of the men had bullet holes right between their eyes. " Dang It!!!!!" He fired back and at the wave of charlies. Then he yelled for his radio man. " JIM!!! GET OVER HERE!" Jim appeared out of the brush. "Call in a Willy Peter!!!" ( A round that burns anything thats withen its range ) "Charlie is gaining on us!!!" " Also call in a evac chopper!" Jim did as told then scurrid off to a sad bag and fired back. The Willy Peter rounds hit the edge of the rice paddy. Just then the evac choppers with to Cobras escorting it came. Jonesy threw out his smoke and the evac chopper landed and everyone got in. Then he took the radio and told the Cobra pilots to rake the treeline just in case.

Robert fired his M60 at the advancing VC and NVA. Though he could see Asian bodies dropping everywhere in front of him, they just kept coming. "We can't let them get the base, stay with the line! Keep firing!" Soon later, calls of out of ammo echoed through the line. Robert also ran out of ammo for his M60, switching to his BAR, kept unofficially after the Marine Corps gave them up. Suddenly, the rice paddy in front of them lit up, and the call of "GET TO THE CHOPPA!" echoed over the sound of whirling blades. Robert helped get the men to the chopper, having to carry one injured man in a fireman carry. After they were safely on the chopper, Robert looked down toward the base, to see the Asians closing in on it.

dai chien jumped over a sandbag wall and looked up, he could see a U.S chopper in the air with it's side-doors open. he let off a hail of machine-gun fire from his kalashnikov and someone fell out of the heli. he smiled and shot another yank before reloading.

Their was a horrific scream as another American was killed. Jonesy saw the muzzle flash and the door gunner opened up with his M-60 Machine gun as we whisped away in the copper. He sat nd wait a they flew to a diffrent camp south of their origional. When they landed their was a high ranking officer standing their waiting for them to land. Jonesy has had this happened to him many times... He was going to get chewed out for not holding his line of the base. The Officer started ranting and he thought everyone in the base could hear it because it was so loud. After he went to the mess hall, sat down, and drank the Marine Corps cheap black coffee.

Name- Pham Ho'ng Yen

ID- Ibis

Occupation- Central Intelligence Agency, Field Agent

Training- Camp Peary, Williamsburg, Virginia

Skill 1- Espionage (Surveillance, Photography, Cartography, Cryptology, Languages)

Skill 2- Sabotage (Mechanics, Architecture, Explosives)

Weapon- SVD-63 "Dragunov" sniper rifle, Nagant M1895 Revolver

Bio- Ho'ng Yen is a native born Vietnamese woman. She moved to the United States fearing conflict in Vietnam in 1945 with her family at age 5 when Ho Chi Minh declared independance. She did not fit in well with the other American children because of her Asian features and it being the end of WWII, so she immersed herself in books, mind puzzles and learning languages. By the time she was 18, she was fluent in Vietnamese (native tongue), English, French, Spanish, and Russian. She joined the US Army and was assigned to US Army Intelligence as a code breaker. After excelling at her job for two years, she was approached by an individual who knew of her cryptology and language skills, and persuaded to work for the CIA. Uncle Sam made it happen immediately when she agreed to do so, and she was transferred to Camp Peary for further training. After two years of training, America was becoming more and more embroiled in the conflict in Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Though she was a female agent, Ho’ng Yen was stationed in Vietnam. She worked with the cryptology division for four years. America became more embroiled in the war. In 1967, though female, she was assigned a field assignment. Join the VC and report movements, troop size, and sabotage where able and appropriate. Ho’ng Yen was able to join a small squad deep in North Vietnam quickly and has been acting with them for the past year.

“Ho’ng Yen! Ho’ng Yen!” Ho’ng Yen opened her eyes slowly and yawned. She stared up at her friend Yu.

She smiled and stretched languidly, “What is it Yu Chen? I was having a wonderful dream.”

The man shook his head and snorted before saying, “You are a silly woman. It is time to be awake. We are moving in thirty minutes.” At this news Ho’ng Yen frowned and sat up.

“Where are we moving? We have been in action for several days and I was under the impression we were to be given rest?” She looked around at the others of the VC squad as they gathered their weapons or ate a hasty meal. She stood up and brushed her dark clothing off. She picked up her ‘boonie’ hat and strapped it onto her head after tucking her long black hair up into it.

Yu Chen grinned and laughed, “The Americans have lost a major installation recently. We’re moving in for defenses until the NVA can support. It promises to be good fun!” He grinned and held up a bowl of insect-laden rice. She took the bowl and nodded.

“Thank you my friend. I will join you shortly”, she said. He nodded and moved off to joke with another comrade as she stole away into the bushes for a quick bio-break. She wandered back into the camp and ate around the insects as best she could. She wondered how she could have missed something as big as one of the American bases being attacked. She’d have to really start listening better to the communications officer. He was an idiot with a loose tongue. He liked to pipe off with anything that he thought made him more important to be in the know. She tucked her Nagant into her belt and shouldered her Dragunov. At least she’d be getting closer to the lines to get to one of her established dead drops

Robert looked around for the Lieutenant of the base. The man who had been shot off was his Sergeant, and everybody else above Robert had been killed during the battle, now it was his turn to lead his squad. But, just to make sure, he wanted to make the Lieutenant aware. He found the lieutenant getting yelled at by a Colonel, about losing the base. After the colonel walked off, Robert walked over to him. "Lieutenant Jones, Corproal Browning reporting. All senior men in my squad have been killed, leaving me to lead the squad, sir!"

" It seems you'll need a promotion Corpral, Ill see about sargent but for now your leading the squad. And todays breifing is in 1230 hours so make sure you get to it. "

"Look, the Americans are fleeing laughed Jean as the NVA troops ran across the rice paddy, and straight into a wall of fire which burst from nowhere... "Sir!" "A trap, those American capitalist scum set a, wait." Jean looked through his binoculars to see a few helicopters approaching. "Ahhh, so the Americans will flee yet. Soldier hand me that rocket launcher." "Why yes sir." Jean took the rocket launcher and casually aimed at one of the choppers, he noted that there was still a lot of gunfire going on although by now, surely the Americans were overrun... The chopper came within range. "See soldier this is how it's done!" Jean pulled the trigger, and nothing happened. "What! Stupid Russian junk, it's jammed-" The two Cobra escorts opened fire on the woods where Jean and the rest of the reserve were sheltering. "DUCK!" Bullets whizzed past killing many as everyone dove to the ground. Jean noted however that small arms fire was still continuing on the other side of the rice paddy, this however was accompanied by the chatter of machineguns. Finally he got up, just in time to see the Americans flee. "Bah! They flee with their tails between their legs, foolish Americans! Soldier get me the VC and NVA commanders and officers, I want to berate them about letting the Americans escape!"

DeletedUser13682

Robert nodded. "Thank you sir. I'll make sure I'm there." After the meeting, he went to find the tattered remains of the squad. "Well guys, I'm taking over. Now, I know that there was some talk about fragging the Sergeant. Don't worry. I won't volunteer us for dangerous missions, if I can help it. If we get assigned to one, we'll have to do it. But don't worry. You'll stay as safe as possible." The men cheered, though not very enthusiastically, you can't cheer well when you just lost most of your possessions. "Now get refitted, and meet back here at 1320." Just to make sure he wasn't late, Robert was at the briefing at around 1212, hoping that they would be able to take back the base soon.
