Cake Bake Event

It's that time of year for the annual cake bake bonds event. I've been trying to tell others who don't know or forgot. THe calendar for April / May has nothing on it. So far just rumors and prognostic predictions from players on Beta...but there are so, so many here that really don't know how events like this (or any event for that matter) really works...can you please put out at least a week's notification when we sign on for events like this? There is a TON of materials to farm and I keep running into players who just don't know how things run. There seems to be a "formula" but it would be much easier if we could get rid of the need to figure the formula out and just have a pop up window appear like they used to at least a week or two before events so you could properly prepare with farming. This event needs a massive amount of mats like the Lucky St. Patrick event....and I have a strong suspicion, feeling, guess that in the next day or two the event will start. Could you put more notice up next time? Thanks for all you do.

We will have a crafting event as usual related to the birthday event, but no cakes this year, the cakebaking quests are from prior years.

our little calendar here does not take into account events that have happened in other years and are repeats - you can see that on wiki.... the calendar is for newcomers this year, and the cake baking event is not coming this year, but another craft event

"the cake baking event is not coming this year" -> From what I can see "The Cake baking event", it's the non repeatable main questline to complete before being able to play the repeatable part "crafting mini-event" (with cakes to exchange against bonds). But seems like in game, BOTH are available this year, not simultaneously for a same account of course, but for players who have already completed the cake baking event, the "crafting mini-event" appears, and for those who haven't already, the cake baking event appears ... Well for this one I checked it in my foreign account. But in principle what's happening in the regular game (events questlines etc), it's the same in all markets, no ?

Plus, if "The cake baking event" (the non-repeatable main part) was supposed to not come this year, it would be soooo problematic for new players ... Like : in this questline we learn a new recipe. If new players can't learn the same number of recipes than other players, they'd have a huge disadvantage regarding the crafting ranking. There would also be a problem with achievements cause this questline allows to win one in the "questlines" section and all achievements in this section are supposed to be achievable by everyone (not like in the "events" or "heroic" sections). Etc. Etc.

mnnielsen , all due respect but the Cake Bake event (just to be clear the one where Blacksmiths bake blueberry lemon cakes, saddlers bake chocolate berry ones, Tonic Peddlers bake Roseberry and Field Cooks bake orange coffee cakes) is running---HARD and FAST...it is running big time and whether it's a repeated quest or not JUST like the Lucky event with coins this event needs and deserves notice somewhere, somehow, some way other than just players waking up one day to find that they needed over 4,000 materials (that is a minimum for flour, sugar, oranges, bluebeories, milk, cooking pots, wood, rollled wire, eggs, tequilla, hammers, iron. Is it "ok" to just not warn us of these events that are a LOT of fun if you have time to prepare and get the materials? This is a bonds event through and through and the notice will enable players to actually want to participate in the event. Again whether it's repeatable or not has nothing really to do with the request for notice. Please can you put in a "head's up" type of mechanism next year? Thanks again.

@Ranger-Schwartz I was curious to ask because the only time this current event was "announced" here was its debut: https://forum.the-west.net/index.php?threads/crafting-mini-event-and-new-tradesman.58730

My understanding is that it is now a reoccurring event documented on The West Wiki as a reoccurring legacy quest option like many other similar quests.

So what you expect I suppose is a repeat of that exact same announcement made in 2020 but updated each year with the correct dates. The only issue with that is consistently getting timely updates from HQ on the exact dates and times. I'll talk to @mnnielsen to see if that is feasible on this end.

because they are comming every year, its embedded in the system now and is not seen as a new thing from the level above me (nor do I) - so its not shown on any roadmap, (or in our calendar) and honestly i can't remember every single repeatable questline that runs in the game and when, it might come as a surprise, but we are only humans here

And I have noob question on top of this discussion. Are we going to have old event recipe quests available according to the dates mentioned in tw-calc?

https://tw-calc.net/quests/group/240#3609 (May 20)
https://tw-calc.net/quests/group/272#4156 (May 10)
https://tw-calc.net/quests/group/241#3613 (May 20)
https://tw-calc.net/quests/group/256#3752 (May 25)

Asking because this (https://tw-calc.net/quests/group/222#3366) already started, but on tw-calc it says May 20 as well. Others I can't see. Recipes for sweet base and cake dough are the only recipes that makes sense for field cook profession. Without them I have literally 0 items I can craft for myself. Have to run to older players asking for crafting when I need something.

With all effort you've putted into creating this memes, you are missing the main point which obsoletes fun from this memes. Ranger asking not for himself but for people who just joined the game and haven't gone through these events yet. Probably we still have some people who cares not only about themselves but also about new player experience.
I understand your point, but imagine if this was for every past event that ever happened, the forum would've been full of announcements. An event roadmap is visible in Tw-Calc website, sure there are not every single event but most of them are there, you can see past years and you can get an idea how events come and go and at what timeframe.

tw-calc is not an official page, and none in the team have any power on the dates ect they write..... mainly because none of those who do the tw-calc actually works here and have access to anything else than the data on Bets.
we have our wiki that is a bit more updated, and then again we have our tiny calendar here.... and as i write every month there, the calendar don't overrule the different announcements we get from HQ, and we can't announce all the older events that still comes up, also because some of the older events only pops up untill you have finished them while some continues even after you have finished it several times.
I know its nice to be prepared, also as a new player, but you can't always be prepared, and sometimes you just need to go with the flow, and figure out stuff in the game

That's what I am usually doing (checking with tw-calc), but I had no idea about "cakes for bonds" event until Ranger wrote a telegram to alliance. This event is minor, of course, but still, costs a lot of effort for players who don't have huge stockpiles of products.

Ok, answer is understandable. But let me focus my question: will we get sweet base and cake dough quests this year? (players who didn't finished it last year) Or you can't tell us for sure because you don't know yet?

Hey @GrandDuke. First I'll mention something that I'm sure you'll discover on your own is that the entire crafting system is designed to encourage if not mandate cooperation and communication with other players. The main flaw with this is the low population of so many worlds (Side note: I wholeheartedly agree with many player grievances about this issue and hope we can somehow change things). However, with persistence most players find a way. This "event" amplifies that requirement of cooperation which also amplifies the low population issue.

If you are not already in a town or an alliance, those communities are your baseline for getting mats for crafting. In this case it is also a great way to possibly trade for cakes, etc.

Second, please don't ever hesitate to reach out to team members here with a private message or in-game if you need help with something including this particular annual "event".

I would suggest using the help button that goes to wiki page (though do believe someone said it will stop being updated).

For now it seems to have dates of when repeatable quests are coming back, also it looks like current bake repeatable questline opens one or two of the other bake event questlines.

tw calc typically has the dates of when it is released not when it repeats, unless it is a repeatable that gives skill point.

No resource is 100% effective for figuring out quests, I even have to use the de wiki on some quests as the local wiki version is not as helpful, but the wiki and tw calc is as far as I know updated by people who volunteer their time to do it, so some are more detailed and others give a rough idea do to the volunteer's choice or more likely amount of free time they have.

Also I am not sure doing the product heavy cake bake event past what is needed for the questline and achievement is the best path for actual new players. As new players will also need to be ready for the later questlines, that give recipes that are far more useful year round ie sweet base that you meantioned. Some events are more geared towards players that have been in game for years, so naturally have loads of products or at least good drop gear.

The west wiki for .net has the info for all quest that are coming usually with 1 month in advance, if you check the main page you would actually see that the cooperation questline starts on 14 may on beta. That means it will start one week later on 20 may for all the other markets. And about tw-calc , the dates shown are usually when it started last year or when it was available last time.
