Best Dueling Gear

I'm shooting for a melee dueler with Max. Vigor and this is what I've found:

Best Vigor Items : Brown Leather Hat, Mexican Bandana, Red Checkered Shirt , Brown Riding Boots, Sharp Lumberjack Axe (+64 combined to Vigor)

Now, as I understand it, Aim is whether or not you hit your target and Vigor (or shooting for firearms) largely determine the amount of damage (thus you can inflict more damage than the maximum amount of your weapon). So I figure I can just go by the name Paul Bunyan and swing this mighty axe (I only have 3 of the above items so far, this is just my dueling goal).

Though, if you can't hit your target, what good is the huge vigor bonus

You may get in a big hit or two, but if the other guy is hitting you for constant low damages, they can add up and beat you

I actually have most of that gear, so I balance out the Vigor by adding 1 or 2 Aim every time I level up.

why say the fancy coat is best for a range duelist when the black coat has the same stats PLUS 1 aim and 1 appearance

the last i check, horse riding and stamina wasn't used in a duel

Yeah, but horse riding is a great bonus for getting to a duel quicker.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. By Max Vigor I only meant that as my clothing enhancements. For point distribution, I place my attribute point on Mobility to gain both Reflex and Dodge, then my skill points go 2 on Aim and 1 on Dodge (most of the time). So virtually every level I get +2 Aim, +2 Dodge. I already have a high enough Vigor from lower level advancements, but my toughness and appearance are lacking (but I can't remeber the last time another melee dueler attacked me). As far as Tactics go, I have a different set of clothes for my Tactics (defense when I'm being attacked).

My Vigor would be over 80 enhanced along with unmodified Aim/Dodge of 40+ each.

For my melee soldier I use:

defense:
mexican banada + tequila+ donkey
19 vigor
=19 offensive and defensive points

offense:
brown shawl
+10 Vigor
+13 Appearance
=23 offensive
=10 defensive points

well mohals...I agree with that. But I prefer the brown coat and it all depends on your skills.

Disagree on the firearm gears...

For me, dueling gears are all dependent of your skills and your targets. For high tactics(soliders)... you need high apperance gears with shooting.

For high shooting people, you need high dogding gear.

black felt hat >>>best to win soliders...


SO YOU need to play with this skills and figure out the best cloth. There is no best gear for everyone.

Did some work on melee gear for my W1 soldier and found these are the best gear. In the process of obtaining all pieces of clothing.

*edit* I do believe there is the best gear for dueling. You just adjust your set skills around your gear buffs to the way you want to be built.

Use to like the Black Bow 11 shooting, 3 appearance, but when you break it down, that's only 14 offensive.

The Blue Shawl has +3 aim +3 shooting +13 Appearance. That's +19 offensive.
