Michael looked at the sonar screen on his station console. The one labeled Florida, which usually had nothing on it, registered a small fleet. Looking at the catalog of various blips, he determined that it was either a school of Amazonian piranhadons, or a fleet of battleships. He guessed battleships, and sent the warning. "Hey, guys. We got battleships headed toward Kennedy Space Center. Request immediate offensive action."

(OCC: Anybody want to be Claw for the next few posts? He's a merc and a very well-mannered man if you can talk something around that.)

Claw poured his wine and set a goblet before James.
"So, my friend, what brings you to my little battle station?" he said with a laugh at the words battle station.

Launch the Mirages and scout the area! ANY RESISTANCE MUST BE TERMINATED! GET READY FOR A AMPHIBIOUS LANDING! MOVE MOVE MOVE! (this is over the fleets loudspeakers which Jean turns off) So, We are here, and the space center, errr.. the ruins will be ours! And then, and then my plans can be set in motion.

DeletedUser

"I need your mercs to help defend DC. There is no pay, as we are too pour. But it would be a great help friend," James said as he grabbed the goblet and started to sip from it.

DeletedUser

(over radio) Have your Mirages detected anything? BZZZZT No. Good, then there is no resistance? Corrrect BZZT. Good! (leaves radio for the radio man. and now Colonel Fairfax we shall land on Cape Canavrel in my private boat, already the search teams are taking the place apart for any needed technology. We should have a system with the help of the Iowa's tactical nuke launcher (no nukes and yes it really had one) and whatever hides in the NASA facility's ruins.

Michael, getting no responce, switched to optical view. He saw many people swarming the cape, and he decided to do something. Entering a code into the console, three switches and a button popped up. The switches were flipped, and a green light turned on. Michael prayed he was doing the right thing, and pushed the button. The Cape Canaveral screen turned white, and shut off as three hydrogen bombs consumed Kennedy Space Center.

SACREU BLEU! (knocks Fairfax to the floor as the space center explodes, they are on the boat) THE AMERICANS! THEY HAVE TRICKS EVERYWHERE, DAMN THEM! BZZTT... SIR DO YOU READ ME! (grabs radio reciever) YES! Good the space center has been completely destroyed including the underground facilities. Did the bombs only go off at the main facility? Yes. The casualties? We're are still getting reports, the search teams managed to transmit a little information but it is believed that they were all killed. DARN! What of other parts of the facilities? The launch pads and outer parts where the bridges to the mainland once were are still intact? They are present, the Americans destroyed the bulk of all information in the main buildings and the Mirages are tracking depressions where underground facilities collapsed, there are reports that the Americans flooded those. UGGH! How heavy do you believe our casualties are major? Light. Light? Yes light because the search teams were special assignment units and the regulars were securing other areas of the island and the town of Titusville. The men's morale will probably fall badly though and its best that we get in a nuke clean-up team fast. Well, at least we have that, give orders for them to set out and check the damage and decontaminate any soldiers. YES SIR! Over and out. (turns off radio) Is everyone okay? My god, I am blinded! DALE, you stared at the nuclear blast! Yes... My god, I've lost my best pilot (for a ship) Fairfax? Yess... I'm fine. Good. Anybody else? Sir. What? Pedro, he was on deck, I don't know what happened but he is dead.

Jean screamed into his radio, "Anybody else?"

A officer responded, "Sir?"

"What?"

"Pedro, he was on deck, I don't know what happened but he is dead," answered the officer. Suddenly, Jean was blinded by a bright white light.

Then, he was no more.

Justin sat in his office and had watched Michael's actions. He could have overridden his orders. But he didn't. He completely approved. There was now no more French Legion. There arrogant leader, Jean Lafitte, was dead.

Justin first organized the radar images of the French Legion, and then the report for the bomb attack. Sending it all via a compressed, short data-burst, Justin waited for the President's response.

Claw sat pondering the request to move his troops to D.C. when James's flexipad, strapped to his arm, beeped. Claw watched him as he read the message. A grave look crossed his face, and he quickly typed a response.

"What up?" asked Claw.

(I died?) Meanwhile in Jamaica... A NUKE! Americans, they beat those poor filthy French *******'s brains out, but if they think there nuclear weapons are powerful, I think not, after all the Iowa is a battleship built for such warfare or at least mordernized to it, and if I'm right the Americans are out of their remote nukes. So, now Mother Russia shall strike at America, we will finish her now that they think that the Space Center and French are no more. (speaks into intercom) Hello, Georgi we are to set out today, set course for the space center, I want the Iowa!

On the Iowa... DIOS MIO! All the Legion has been nearly destroyed completely! Yes well, I suppose it's up to you Pequito, the Iowa and the Lorraine along with the Noutilus 21 and the cruiser Exceter are ready with whatever crews and weapons they have left, only Noutilus and Exceter are unscathed. And the rest? Those ships couldn't take the power of the nuclear blast they sunk to the bottom. How about the men on the mainland? They are demoralised they said that if they are approached they will surrender to the Americans. Bloody Americanos, so it three ships and a sub? Yes, also several of the merchant vessels after the blast were siezed by their crews if the ship survived so there may be some trouble since they may attempt to attack us. Well, there is a last hope. What the commander originally wanted to get the easier to reach space center in French Guinea, I suppose we will head there. Yes. (talks into radio) Alright men here are your orders... (5 hours later the French leave the sight of the American coast.)

James started to chuckle now."Idiotic frenchies. Trying to scavenge Kennedy Space Center. I hate idiots," he said with a laugh.

(On the new Merchant Flagship Basqueraz it and ten other ships look for the Frenchman, of course six are merchants.) Sir. What? We have discovered an unidentified fleet approaching. Have you tried to hail them? Yes. Are they Americans? No. I believe we should contact the Americans though and alert them to our situation, now send them a message...

(On the Russian Battleship Potempkin II) So, the Fren.., wait they are Merchants. Should we avert course Capitan? No, no this is even better we will get supplies from them. Georgi! YES! Identify the warships in the convoy. Yes Sir! Sir. What? We are closing in they are now within range of the big guns, 20 kilometers. Sir I've identified a Heavy Cruiser and three Destroyers, there coordinates have been sent to the guns. Well, then remember I want the cargo ships, but I don't want anyone of those warships left in the water FIRE!

On Basqueraz... SIR! What? They're.. a whole damn Russian FLEET! What! Hurry men to your battlestations! Prepare missiles for launch! SIR! They're firing! WHA! 30 Russian shells and rockets fly through the air and drill the 4 convoy ships, when the smoke clears the smoking wreck and carnage of the Basqueraz is seen sinking to the bottom.

On Potempkin... Now ask the remaining ships to surrender, hahhah!

On Iowa... Sir! What? The merchants that were approaching us, they're gone! And that is amazing because? They didn't go out of range they, dissapeared. Dissapeared? There are not any Americans around... SIR! What? LOOK! A radar readout, hmm.. HOLY [CRAP] WHERE'D ALL THAT COME FROM! We don't know sir they are headed in our direction now. Migod! Order all ships full steam ahead. If we can reach New Guinea we will be safe.

On Potempkin... Run, Run Little Frenchies, Run Fast As You Can, We'll Catch You Because We're Russia's Men!

Claw looked surprised, "The space center? Why would they want that?"

"They must have figured that we were sending up satellites."

"You guys have got satellites up?!"

"Yes," answered James proudly.

"Wow, well, that kinda makes my radio tower redundant, doesn't it? I suppose that I'll come to D.C., then! It just makes sense that we'd consolidate our forces, now." Claw got up and picked up a megaphone. Opening the door, he bellowed out a command. "All troops ready for departure!" He turned to a captain waiting by the door. "Son, ready our transports."

"Yes, sir!"

20 Degrees Starboard! That's right! 5 degrees port! Ahhh! Now there are our French friends!

On the Iowa... SIR! What? The enemy fleet is now within 45 kilometers! We can now open fire! Give the order then! We're the only ones who can hit them with guns at this range, maybe we'll spook them. Jean speaks into radio, REAR BATTERY 1 FIRE! The guns of the Iowa fire and are sent flying into the mysterious fleet. I belive we have destroyed oe vessel sir! Well keep on feeding them coordinates, we're starting to gain on them and Guinea is only 200 kilometers, our chances to escape are their!

On the Russian missile cruiser Bear... LINED UP! FIRE! Rockets are launched from the Bear and go flying at the French devasatating their escort cruiser!

On Iowa... SIR! WHAT! They've hit our cruiser sir, with rockets and she won't last long! Oh dang it! Tell them to evacuate ship and get closer to the Iowa so we can pick them up! The batteries have destroyed another two vessels sir! Good, mabe they'll stop, but just in case order them to launch conventional missiles from the launcher. Yes sir!

The Potempkin, we have closed in to 38 kilometers captain, the Potempkin can touch them! Fire then, but if I find any MAJOR damage to that ship or if you sink it, I SWEAR I WILL PERSONALLY KILL YOU! Turrets frontal 1 and 2 fire! Sir! What? The French are picking off our front runner ships, we have already lost a missile cruiser! Fine then, order them back, it comes down to this then, battleship to battleship combat! No planes, no subs, just us and a battleship! The Russian fleet withdraws except Potemkin...

DeletedUser

Sir! What? The Russians are withdrawing! Well that is, then what is this big radar blip for! That is, the POTEMPKIN! The Potempkin! She is one of Russia's newest battleships, she is comparable to the Iowa in her power and perhaps even more... *KABOOM!* Sir! What! The Potempkin has closed in to one kilometer and has destroyed the rear main turret! Oh NO!

On Potempkin... Oh, Yes! Cease firing! What! I want that ship intact! But the remaining guns! They are crap they cannot hurt us! So what happens when we board? We'll figure it out then. *KRASH* What was that!? Sir Potempkins front turret's ammunition delivery was breached! Turret #2 is destroyed and remaining frontal weapons cannot fire! Only chain guns and light cannons can be used! So you said you... SHUT UP! I'm captain and I swear ensign before you know it Iowa will be ours!

On Iowa... Order a 90 degree turn to port! What? Do it those Russians will get a taste of our broadsides!

The scene zooms out to a panoramic view of the two battleships and the Russian fleet... Narrator: And so the first battleship to battleship combat since World War II was about to begin. The Iowa was a ship that was thought up with that in mind and mordernized through the years into an effective modern warship. Potempkin was a new battleship conceived to challenge smaller ships and missiles. So it was that these two titans challenged each other to see who would be supreme...

Claw picked up his body armor and put it on. Then he placed the pieces of his small personal armory into a large chest which was already stuffed with his other belongings. Heaving the chest onto his back, Claw walked out.

"This is one benefit of staying on the move," said Claw, "you can pack your stuff quickly!"

Entering the garage, Claw threw his chest onto a transport. Climbing up into the cockpit, Claw picked up his radio.

"Ready the swoops!" he commanded.
