Will join restrictions be used so that everyone cant just join defense and hardly anyone join attacks?
Yes, but that only applies to those worlds that didn't vote against it (this is outside of an event so, just Colorado, Kansas, Montana, and Navajo)

A can of spinach seems very small Attacks need more incentive than defends especially since ffs seem to be getting more and more infrequent in worlds. (not just awesomia but all worlds) We really want to try for better quality of battles where both sides are competitively even. 1 sided battles are not fun.
We will be doing Awesomia battles more frequently and some will have bigger rewards than the other. Especially during events we are able to do more.
As far as the Awesomia balance goes I hope we can redo the survey as Goober mentioned in a previous post. Currently we can only apply join restrictions for the worlds that voted for it.

As for a hint: it is readily seen that there are 165 possible rewards, and the visible possibilities are sorted by probability and itemid.
so, you can see the lowest itemids in the 0.61% tier is the entire list of j. hancock items, followed by the Phoebe hat. You can make an educated guess from that of what you might find in this chest.

Well, as I said, those are the lowest itemid's included at that possibility tier (and for 165 items where 9 of them are 0.61 you can reasonably infer that all 165 items (or perhaps all but one) are in the same tier).
By implication, the worst you can do is an item from 2018 set that didn't see a replacement until DotD 2022, and the next worse is from a 2019 set still in moderate use, likewise without (much of) an upgrade before 2022.
That means nothing older than 2018, nothing else from 2018 besides Hancock (which is useful/marketable until everyone completes their skeleton or papa set), and from 2019 nothing from hickock, mclaughlin or tatanka.
Perhaps consider waiting to see what people are getting before being so dismissive.

How are these rewards decided? Is there a limit what you can reward and what does it depend on?
Like martoru said, it would be nice to receive the bond letters again like it was the case in the past.
It’s a chest. There are 165 items and you will randomly receive 1 of them.
So far I have seen items from these sets:
J Hancock
Phoebe Ann mosey
James Wilson
Josephine
Fisherman
Musical Cowgirl
Thomas
Cortina
Sam Adams
Santa
Behan
Captain
Jaguar
Cortez
Locomotive
Boatswain
There may be a few more, but what’s notable are all of the 2018-2021 sets that haven’t been seen.
It’s unclear how often we’ll be able to award this chest but for event awesomias you can expect similar awards as in years past and in non-event awesomias you can expect similar awards as have been seen before. The specific awards are decided by the fort balance team within guidelines from HQ and with input from the Event Team and the CM.
