Proof of God is one big sidetrack isn't it?
Religion itself is a side-track. Meh.
Quite hoenstly, belief in god is for the gullible.
Proof of God is one big sidetrack isn't it?
abortion is also a poor example as its NOT jsut a religous thing while YES most religous folks ( there are in fact some religous folks who are for it mind you ) are against abortion many NO religous folks are also agianst it its a MORAL debate not a religous debate
Why would you doubt that?
It's written in the bible, right there in those pages, so it MUST be true right?
How do you know he's torturing billions more in Hell? If you believe that Hell exists, because it's written so in the good book, then you must believe that God has murdered over 2 million people, as that is written in the same book!
It's seems a fallacy for one of the ten commandments to be 'thou shalt not kill', when the divine being is doing just that! Lead by example I say
Numbers 5:12-28
12 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'If a man's wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him 13 by sleeping with another man, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), 14 and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure—or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure- 15 then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder offering to draw attention to guilt.
16 " 'The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the LORD. 17 Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. 18 After the priest has had the woman stand before the LORD, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, "If no other man has slept with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. 20 But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have defiled yourself by sleeping with a man other than your husband"- 21 here the priest is to put the woman under this curse of the oath-"may the LORD cause your people to curse and denounce you when he causes your thigh to waste away and your abdomen to swell. [b] 22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells and your thigh wastes away. [c] " Then the woman is to say, "Amen. So be it."
23 " 'The priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water. 24 He shall have the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water will enter her and cause bitter suffering. 25 The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the LORD and bring it to the altar. 26 The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial offering and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water. 27 If she has defiled herself and been unfaithful to her husband, then when she is made to drink the water that brings a curse, it will go into her and cause bitter suffering; her abdomen will swell and her thigh waste away, and she will become accursed among her people. 28 If, however, the woman has not defiled herself and is free from impurity, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.
Abortion, the process described and recommended, in the Bible.
If God is almighty, and his wish is always granted - like protecting people and keeping them safe - why does his number one man on Earth [The Pope], feel the need to travel round in a bulletproof car?
Surely God would keep him safe if that is his wish.
If it isn't his wish and The Pope is meant to be assassinated, then surely The Pope is defying the word of God and will go straight to Hell??
first off thats not abortion

and shea you misrepresnt christaian beleifs only a portion of christians beleive as you do many are far more literal in there beleifs not that im saying either is right or wrong only estabishing that evven amount members of the same group there are far diverse ranges of beliefs
but the point isnt that one beleif is right or wrong but that they all have merit and should be given a little freaking respect
those people simply arnt true christians
as for using the word freaking when youve been subject to the rampant disresct for anyone with creationist views or that stands up for christians on these boards as i have you will understand where im coming from
1make marrage only performable by ministers and let the secular version be the one performed by ships captains and jsutice of he peace etc .
2 lastly its rare that you see religous people (aside from mulsim extreemists ) involved in violent actions for religous reasons and more often then not religous folks are simply fighting for equal rights yet constantly nonn religous folks attack the religous folks rights
1Anyways, Im a minister you see, and im perfectly fine with marrying homosexual couples. And so is my church... what happens then?
then you're not a real christian.
then you're not a real christian.
(See the "no true Scotsman" fallacy)then you're not a real christian.
(See the "no true Scotsman" fallacy)
Darfkwahn - you are more of a christian than many who stick that label on themselves as an excuse for their own nastiness. I don't recall reading in the Bible that Jesus hated gays - in fact I don't recall him hating anyone much in particular, so maybe those who hate in Jesus' name should take on a bit of his humility and feel ashamed.
Actually, the bible refers to sodomy, not homosexuality. Modern interpretation, from fundamentalist and bible distortionists, has resulted in stating that sodomy with a woman is okay, but not homosexuality.
Let's see if you two can just accept the fact you're demonstrating prejudice.
Fallacy, as usual.
