World 1 map speed

Ok,

Originally it was stated under my character info that the map speed of this world is increased by +250%

then I go and pick a duelist. Now The speed on the map is increased by 10%.

So I've lost 140% of the speed.

Is this a bug or is this just the limitation of picking a class?

Before you pick a class your class is 'Greenhorn' whose only bonus is a +150% speed on the map without a riding animal. Picking a class will give you another set of bonuses instead AND a class quest line.

Once you get the better riding animals, the speed bonus of the Greenhorn will be more or less negated.
