getting the fishing rod is going to be tough, but i want to get it and not waste time. Almost feel like checking every 10 minutes, lol.

If everyone did the job for 30 min today, theoretically someone should get it within the next hour or so, I'm already doing the fresh fish quest now. So maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones to get it!

Okay, that is wrong. This is what you need it for:
Equipping the fishing rod, will unlock a heavy labor quest, which requires 6 hours of stream fishing and the reward is $500 and 500 experience points.

500 XP will take you from level 1 to level 10.

But if you spend 30 hours trying to find the stupid rod it may take you longer to reach level 10 than if you went on and did other jobs and quests....
But then again, you get the 500 XP level up to 10 and now you can use your time doing other higher XP jobs... hmmm...
