Ok, this is an RPG that takes place in the modern day. The setting is in a far off country where a war has broken out between the government and rebels. There are many civilians caught up in this mess, and there is only one rule, for everyone to follow:

NO GODMODDING
(Unless it is to make the story more exciting, or to move a dormant character.)

Henry looked out the window as a man fired a rocket propelled grenade into the side of the police department. It was the usual day, rebels fighting the cops, Henry just wished the war would end so he could get home to his wife and family, but then he remembered the bomb...

"I hate rebels..." He said to himself, "I hate these buildings, I hate the Army, and the government, and cops, I really hate cops." He said to himself, watching the firefight.

Aleksandr, an Major with the rebel army, watches as RPG-7s are fired into buildings in the capitol city. "Direct all your fire at the government buildings and supply depots, when I give the order, we will charge, and take the city of Hierkanopolis." His voice has a heavy Russian accent, but a slight familiarity with James Earl Jones, as the voice of Darth Vader. The radio squaks, and buzzes, then a voice is heard amongst the static and explosions. "We need reinforcements. The state army is advancing, they have tanks." Aleksandr directs half of his troops, most of them with RPG-7s and LAWs to strengthen the Souther Quarter, where the invasion started.

(OOC/ I don't know much about weaponry or vehicles, so if I am vague please bare with me)

I try to hold the binoculars steady as the tank rolls through the street. We had gotten word from HQ that the city Hierkanopolis was under attack. Somehow, the rebels had managed to get through all of our defenses and reach the capitol city. I'm pretty pump since this is my first time in actual combat. Not one week after boot camp, I was given orders. The only thing that worried me was.....could I really kill a man. But I kept telling myself it would be fine. I'm wearing basic combat gear, complete with bullet proof vests, ammo satchels, and what not. Instead of green camo, it's splinter. On my shoulders it has the one bar meaning private. My dog tag has my name on it, Dante. "Rebels hitting the government buildings hard," I said into my ear piece radio. I have a thick Italian voice, medium pitched.

A RPG rocket flew through Henrys window, it crashed into the Labtop and stopped dead. Henry looked at it, "Dud" He said as it cooled.

A few minutes after Aleksandr had sent half his regiment to support the initial invasion, about a dozen CH-47 Chinook transport helicopters came, with 35 troops each, 4 restored ACH-47A Chinook Attack Cargo Helicopters, 10 AH-64 Apache attack helicopters, and 20 F-18s. Aleksandr smiled, he always liked the show of power that could deliver on its promise. The regular Chinooks dropped off their soliders, and flew back to get more, while the Guns-A-Go-Gos (ACH-47A), AH-64s, and F-18s pounded the buildings, and provided support. Aleksandr ordered all the troops, the new guys were armed with AK-74s, to start a new invasion in the Southern part of the city.

(OOC/ even though the XM8 was only a prototype, please go along with it.)

"Do you see that firepower?" I asked my sergeant. "Yeah, I see it. Some pretty high powered stuff they got there. Wonder how they got their hands on it," he replied through our ear pieces. Most of our rifle men were carrying XM8 assault rifles. Though the plans for it were cancelled by the U.S government, they gave the plans over to our government. They quickly replaced the M16s we had previously used. I continued scanning the area as my group rode into the Southern part of the city.

After 20 minutes of the aircraft pounding the city, Aleksandr recieved the order to invade the Eastern Quadrant, and meet up with the first part of the invasion in the Town Square, where the government buildings were located. "This is your moment men! All you have worked for will all be ripe for you to pick! We are within a hands reach away from total victory, our superiors ask us that we take the town square. Do that, and you shall have all you have asked for but have not recieved from your oppressive government!" The men all start cheering, and about 20 dozen of them hop into Humvees, most armed with standard .50 cal machine guns, a few are armed with AA20, automatic shotguns, and some are armed with missile systems. The rest run gleefully into the rubble of the outer city like children running to a pile of christmas presents. Unbeknown to Aleksandr and the troops, a lone soldier runs, under cover, to Dante's regiment, and gives a note to the leader, about the Eastern invasion.

My ear piece came to life as we were given new orders. "Ok men, listen up. The Rebels are heading for the Eastern Quadrant now. They must not take that area! The rebels are making their way towards the Quadrant now. Your regiment is the closet towards the area. You'll make it there before the Rebels. We are sending some Cobras to slow the advancing Rebels. Good luck men. Make your country proud." Eastern Quadrant. That means I would be right in the action. I didn't know whether to be excited or scared. I tried not to think too much about it. Besides, I can hold my own. We finally reached the Eastern Quadrant. Everything was left just like it was before the invasion. Tables with chairs and what not. I looked up as the Cobras passed overhead. I jumped off the tank and ran over to a small group of men on some steps. I saluted to the Sergeant who was holding a map. He looked up at me and nodded. Before I could say my name, a series of loud explosions went off behind me, followed by loud, automatic fire. The battle had started.

Justin was a young captain in the state rebel army. He had joined when the conflict started and had always been able to rally his men. When the going got tough, he started to preach about the evil federal government and their abuses of power; how they had broken their contract with the American people; and how they had turned the American Republic into a socialistic dictatorship. He preach about the days when capitalism had given everyone the opportunity succeed. When he got done talking, his men would go anywhere with him; even into the evil Washington D.C.

He had just received the command to take the city square. He regrouped his men and united with several other squads. The point men, armed with sub-machine guns, were to clear out the buildings overlooking the square first. Once they had completed this task, the snipers would move into the buildings.

There were three apartment buildings on the right side of the square. Justin's squad was to take the first one. The left side of the square held a large, three-story office building. On the opposite side of the square was a large post office. A few federal troops were arriving here to hold the square. However, the rebels had the advantage of an already cleared school opposite the post office.

"Alright, Squad A!" Justin yelled to his men. "We're going to clear the first apartment building on the right side of the square. Squad B and C are going to clear the other two. We've got to get these buildings cleared out so that our snipers can move in. Any questions?"

No one said anything.

"Good! Then lets move. Jimmy! Bailey! You two will cover the back door while the rest of the squad clears out the first floor!" Justin yelled.

"Yes, sir!"

"Taylor! I want explosives on those doors, now!"

"Yes, sir!"

(We're not in America, we are in an unnamed country whose capital is Hierkanopolis)

A soldier, as a joke, had put in a heavy metal album into a radio he had secretly installed. Turns out, everyone else had the same idea at the same time. Every Humvee playing the same song at the same time is impressive. "Fire the .50s at the men guarding the post office, fire a missile at the the media building. Ground troops, surge forward at all costs, use rubble and other barriers as cover, kill everyone. They do not take prisoners, so we will not." Aleksandr didn't know if this was true, but that's what his superiors said. "Snipers, get into those freshly caputred buildings, remember the 'do not destroy' identifier. Hackers, get me into their communications and satellite systems."

(I know; that was just my little addition to the story line.)

Justin's squad had just cleared out their building with little difficulty. Their major concern was booby traps; civilians had left the city a few days ago.

"Major Rolf, apartment building A has been cleared and snipers are in position," yelled Justin over his radio.

"Alright, good to hear. Stand by for orders," was the response.

"Alright, men! We're to hold this position until we receive further orders!" yelled Justin. "Let's dig in! I want all ground level windows barricaded! Put the fully-automatic machine guns on the second story!"

I took cover behind the steps. The incline gave me protection from the gunfire. I stood up quickly and fired acouple shots off at a rebel hiding behind some rubble. He fell to the ground as I quickly crouched again. The Cobras were pounding the rebels Humvees, slowing their advance. I got to the base of the steps and peered to the side. I noticed some machine guns on an apartment building on our right on the second floor. Apperenlty I wasn't the only one who had noticed it either. "Alpha team (the small group I was in), we have heavy automatic machine gun fire coming in from the first apartment building on the right. They are causing serious damage. We need you to clear that building of any rebels. Take no prisoners. Over and out," the commander ordered. I looked over to my Sergeant, the fire team leader. "Bravo team will direct their fire towards the apartment building. That should buy us acouple seconds to run across towards the alleyway over their. There should be an entrence at the back of the building. Understood?" We all nodded, all 10 of us. "Good, now, on my mark, 3,2,1...GO!" he yelled as we ran from cover towards the alleyway.

"Feds at 4 o'clock, headed for your machine gun placement," Aleksandr radioed to Justin. "Also, get a couple of your guns to aim at the Cobras, they're slowing the Humvees." Someone let loose with a missile, and a Cobra exploded in a ball of fire. "ETA for helicopters is 10 minutes," Aleksandr heard on the earpiece. "Leaders got us some equipment. The rear guys and all officers get Land Warrior II systems. Those will arive with the Guns-A-Go-Go." "Roger. Over."

James smoked a cigar in his humvee. He looked at his boys. "Well boys, today we go kill!!!" James yelled. His boys cheered. He was known as Sgt. James Michell. He held a tight grip on his Desert Eagle. He was a mercenary. And a damn good one. He and his boys only wanted the money. Thats all that mattered to him. James smiled as he took a puff.

(OOC/ you said Rebels at 4 o'clock. Did you mean my group because we are part of the government, not the Rebels.)

The machine gunners seemed to notice us. They started unloading at us as we ran towards the alleyway across the open battlefield. One of our riflemen went down in the back but we just kept running. We arrived at the alleyway and stopped. The Sergeant looked back at us and assessed the situation. "How many men did we lose?" he asked. Somewhere in the back someone replied, "Just Jackson sir." "Ok, stay behind me. Shoot on sight," the Segeant said as he turned around and started walking. We reached the back of the apartment. He was right. There was a door. I positioned myself on the right of the door while somebody else was on the left. The Sergeant kicked in the door and we stormed in. "Four men check this floor while four others come with me to the second floor," the Sergeant said. I followed the Sergeant as we headed up the staircase towards the second floor. As we rounded to the second stairs, we were met with gunfire. We quickly dispatched the rebel and continued up the stairs. We got to the second floor and opened the door slowly. "Clear," I said as we moved into the hallway.

James got out of the humvee as it came to a stop at a building. "Let's move!!!" James said as he got out. He grabbed his hand made sawn-off shotgun from the humvee. Him and his mercanary squad ran up the stairs. He could see a few dead bodies and heard some gun fire. James and his squad ran up the stairs as they came across a hallway. James could see a group of men clearing rooms. James yelled out,"Rebel or government? We have you surrounded. Give the correct answer and you wont die."

(I meant feds. heheh. Its the fumes from the Humvee. They make me loopy.)

Looking through binoculars, Aleksandr sees the feds on the first floor. "Justin, they are in your building. Be advised that they are moving up." Aleksandr saw the hacker smiling. "We have broken through, and are in their mainframe. We also have Land Warrior, right now, about a quarter of your troops have it." A man hands Aleksandr his Land Warrior suit. "Load up information to all Land Warriors." Instantly, his eyepiece started filling up with schematics, plans, documents, pictures, videos, a technological bonanza. "Get a native to send false information and orders through." The native came, and started sending the order to pull out of the apartment building.
