Man, I screwed up.

Yeah, you have to be carefull as you build up. I just finished the quest for Waupee where you bring him the ravens feather. The next thing he wants is beans & I'm nowhere near having the skills I need for that. :eek:hmy: Even worse, I'm just as far from being able to do the quest the sherrif wants where you fix the fences & find his hammer. Looks like I'll have to build up xp the hard way from working jobs. Thats going to probably be a LONG haul to get the next 68 I need to reach 9th level and build my skill set up.

Either the game is designed so that you hit a wall for a bit at that level or I just pulled a noob mistake.

Don't worry about not being able to finish quests right away. You don't want to spend skill points just to finish quests.

DeletedUser9811

Oh? I thought that was the point....at least till you got to level 10 and could pick a character class. How else is everyone getting to level 10 so fast and joining towns?

Yeah, I have a lot to learn.

Most quest based games are designed with a surplus of quests for each level or "stage" of the game. Keep the quests and finish them later. Focus on the long haul and spend points wisely on skills you will need for higher levels. Some players call this "grinding". Just keep hammering the highest XP job you can do right now.

If you have skill points evenly distributed among all the skills, you will be mediocre at every job.

Specialization. If you're going to be a builder, it's easy...strength/construction to start. If you're going adventurer (and not planning on dueling right away), there are a few skills you usually specialize in...mobility/hiding, dexterity/trapping, charisma/trading or appearance. If you're going to be a soldier or dueler, you definitely don't want to waste skill points for quests. There are lots of threads that can advise you on their skills better than I can.

Any quests you can't do early, you do later, either from the few skill points you get from your attribute points, or by buying gear when you have money.

Edit: But as I've said before, if you're having fun with the quests, don't worry about wasting a few points for them in one world, but you might be better off choosing one of the other worlds than the newest for your quester.

Thanks for the help guys. I really mean that. Yeah, I've been playing to the quests thus far trying to get to level 10. My career goal, so to speak is an adventurer type and so far most of my skills are pretty evenly spaced with an emphasis on the dexterity ones.

For now, am set to work a lot on the highest xp award jobs I can find. Just seems like it's going to be a bear to advance since I only get on for short bursts during the day.

You can queue up 2 jobs at once, 4 if you have a premium account. Just click two "2 hour" jobs in a row and you can log out for 4 hours at a time.

Use weststats.com to import your current skills and inventory to search for the highest possible XP/$/Luck jobs you are capable of. It also lists hints and rewards for all quests.

Thanks. I used that weststats to discover that my best option at the moment was harvesting fields and I have that set up now for two two hour runs. Will have to see how that works out.

DeletedUser9811

Huh. Guess I freaked for nothing. Two hours of harvesting grain netted me 12 xp. That will only take maybe a day or so to hit next level. I was too used to getting crappy xp from my other jobs.....

need no worry about quest..
you'll ignore it sooner or later (except if you are pure quester)

This happened to me too, Im just going to go what I mostly do and add like 1 of the 3 skill points I need to do something...

Queuing two hour work loads is really not the way to go, especially in groups of four. It used to be fine, until the new updates where installed. People think that doing repetitive two hour jobs brings in the highest xp/money, it really does not. There are so many factors which effect jobs now, I would really look back at your theory and take more care in choosing how you work.

No no no mate, you diden't screw up unless I did so to.
I was far away from being able to repair that fence or picking those beens.
But then For I was preparing for the next stage in the quest the sugar.
Then what happened like a gift form the gods i saw two new shoes in my inventory what could this be?
It was Black worne shoes 4 reparing and 4 leadership and all the sudden I could do these 4 jobs as I am rigth now as we speak on the swedish server.
So I think you need better gear and like for me 1 item make a HUGE difference.
I calculated That I had to level 1 level to do one of those to jobs and then I would have to level again to spec so I could do the second but now I can do them bouth without even leveling.
But correct me if I am wrong but it's kinda counted in that you fond some kind of equipment of some kind at this point.
I am allso playing here on English server 7 and funny thing is I started 1 day before on this server and the next day on the swedish one and i couth up to the state where I am at the english and passed due to these boots.
Well I bless my luck and cure the fact that I haven't taken the english lessons serious as you migth see here in my spellings.

Spreading your skill points around gets you those quests earlier but does seem to be a mistake in the long run as I'm discovering now. The game design does rather make their assurance
As soon as you reach a new level you can distribute the skill and attribute points you have received. Every skill has it's advantages. There is no 'wrong' at the beginning.
look a little bit hollow. If you use outside resources like weststats to see the jobs that are invisible on the map it becomes clear that you need to heavily specialise to do any of them and a scattered approach in the beginning is going to make that harder. It seems a lot better to save points for your key skills and wait to get items that'll give you the stat points you need in otherwise unimportant areas to complete low level quests.
