Resolved Leaving my current town

Could someone please explain to me how to leave my current town? Do I have to physically be in town to do this?
Also I am wanting to reclaim am ghost town. I understand that I need to have $300 and 80 energy, but to start this process do I have to leave the town that I am currently in?
I am relatively new to the game and really new to the forum. I tried searching the forum for this information but was unsuccessful. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

You got to townhall > Residents > leave town

You don't have to be at your town to do this. However, you must be without a town to found a ghost town.
