There is no player to player transfer of goods , and You can only wear one , items don't appear to get dammaged . So I can't see any need for a spare . Sorry for the long rambling thinking out loud . It's just the way I work through things .

hang on to it until you really need the money. It's the savest way to accumulate $, unless you have access to a high level bank.
I usually deposit my job earnings in the town bank and use the item savings where needed to reallocate quite some skill/attribute points at once.
