Competitions February '10

Howdy all! Welcome to another of our wonderful competitions. This month we have something very special to offer. Three new mystery items have been created just for the winners of these competitions! The only way to ever get these items is to win one of our monthly competitions. The exact items won't be revealed until the end of the month when the winners are announced.

This months categories are as follows:

Fort Fighter Category
:
(Beginners)
In this category participants must achieve the highest total number of hits in a single battle. Only characters below level 30 are eligible to win this category! They must still be below level thirty at the end of the competition to get the prize.

At the end of the month we shall take entries; entries close at the end of the month. An entry shall have the details in text as well as with a link pointing to the fort battle report for verification (this can be done by going to the fort's graveyard, right clicking the battle link and selecting "copy link location"). The prize for this category shall be 5 premium nuggets and a unique item! There will be a prize for best attacker and best defender!

Duelling Category

In this category participants must inflict the highest difference of damage during a single duel. This means your total damage minus your opponents total damage. The duel can be against any player as either challenger of defender, but NPCs and other irregular duels do not count.

We shall take entires at any time during the month, closing on the last day of the month. However you must submit your entry within seven days of receiving the report, otherwise we can not guarantee submission. An entry shall be a link to a fullscreen screenshot showing the duel report in which you inflicted the most damage minus your opponents, as well as the details in text. The winner will then have their report validated, so please do not delete your report! The prize for this category shall be 5 premium nuggets and a unique item.

Roleplaying Category
Howdy, partners. This is once again a combined contest with the Broken Saddle team to see who can write the best article. In around five hundred words (or more if you need them), you must tell your character’s tale about doing’ the new quests than came into town with the version 1.24. The winnin’ article shall be published in the next issue of the Broken Saddle, and shall also receive five gold nuggets. The postal express leaves at the end of the month, and shall deliver all entries to Miss Betsy. The prize is 10 premium nuggets and a unique item.

Yeah, and the competition is for all worlds. You most probably need to have a high-level character, with either Hernando's sword or the Precise Buntline, and a high HP target with bad dodging.. :)

I doubt we will see the dueling comp winner in W10.

Yeah, its for all worlds.I thought that for every world has its own competition, but its not.So as D Saint said,if you dont have precise buntline or Hernando Sword, there is no point to try get the reward.

Indeed. I won the January one with my World 4 character, shooting the head off a pure builder with a precise buntline. Not particularly sporting, but the easiest way I could think of to get a massive difference in damage. I may have to visit him again for february.....

I would highly suggest having competitions for individual worlds. That way brand new worlds like w11 would have a chance too. Then again the same person could win several worlds, so there should be a rule preventing you from competing in more than one world per month.

To make the contest more interesting

You should make it based on the type of character dueled so someone who is a Soldier killing a working doesn't have as much credit for the kill as Soldier going after another soldier or dueler. I know I am newb but I am growing. Just trying to keep things balanced.
