Why are pants so overpowered?

Since the addition of pants and belts, something seems strange to me.

Why are pants and belts so high leveled, compared to other equipment pieces? The answer is also my question here. Higher bonuses.

And why is it good to have overpowered pants and belts and worthless shirts, hats and everything else? Weren't shirts supposed to be the strongest part? Was this a mistake made by the devs when they implemented pants into the game?

We are talking about tailor items here, please don't mention named item sets or anything that can't be bought at tailor.

It's the way they were implemented, some of the shirts etc have being in the game since the beginning. There were no Pants/belts in the beginning and since the introduction of new features like forts, more jobs etc better gear kept on coming along. At least... this is the way i see it anyway.

I know there were no pants and belts. I started playing the game in 2009. But still, it's weird. Shirts should be the best piece of equipment, not pants. I feel this was overlooked by the devs. Or it has something to do with the increased level cap.

Could be the level cap yes. I believe Pants/belts were in the same (if not close) to the update where it went to 120. The new shirts etc from the tombola are pretty powerful like doc's coat. I suppose rebalancing the older gear would cause a lot more work than it's worth though to bring them up to balance.

They're fairly balanced if you look at the level requirements for the better stuff.

Fancy coat, the highest level shirt you can find in a tailor is only level 45 to equip, whereas trousers and belts can need you to be oer level 100. I know this means a lack of truly high end coats and other things, but the game isn't broken without them, so they're not necessarily needed.

Pants and belts were implemented in the same update as the level cap was increased from 99 to 120. This is the reason they have higher level requirements than items in the other clothing slots.

This update also brought many new jobs (some better ones for players above level 99), and it is because of the increased difficulty of many of these jobs and the higher level requirement of the items that their bonuses are better than the bonuses given by other pieces of clothing.

Sure, new clothing could've been added in the other slots as well but I don't think it really matters which slot gives the highest bonuses.

Another reason that I can think of is that every new addition is improving on the existing ones, therefore higher bonuses, or higher anything just to make it worthwhile.

I'd like to see new non-set items in our town shops, but somehow I think that is not going to happen :)

My opinion is that anything new in this game will be overpowered. So were pants and belts, so were new sets and so will go on..
One day, Inno belt and Golden tomahawk will be like Hernandos and Al's belt. Previously all we were looking for them, but now they are the last we need ;)
Many items have been shown and many new sets will come soon..

Pants and belts are in no way comparable to the overpowered item sets available now, and they never were. For one thing, they're available to anyone and as common as any shirt or pair of shoes. Most importantly though, like I said, they coincided with the release of higher difficulty jobs that would have been very difficult to unlock without specialising in them had it not been for pants and belts.
