I am having a problem beating the thief in the Waupee's Grandfather quest, anybody have an idea how to do this?

All you have to do is click 'complete the quest'.
There is no fighting style that I know of to guarantee you won't get it. But if you keep dying, I suggest working on your dueling skills.

That or equip yourself with any weapons and defense you can.

I have got to the duel, just look at your reports and alter your dueling from that. I cut the amount of health i lose by half that way.

it took me 4 tries and a slingshot. Learn from the past duels (where you get hit and where he gets hit)
Surprisingly enough I got him with a head shot for a fair amount of damage

strangely he hit me in areas that the next time he didnt. And plus a headshot got less damage than a left shoulder.

Sorry but there is no DUELING TECHNIQUE that I know for this one. Just keep trying.

i got it in the 3rd go alternating my duel skills.

U should have low duel skills.
As far as i remember u can hit him on his shoulders, and u should dodge the left most of the time but not sure though been a while.
