What's the catch here...?

I find it nice that inno & co. are trying to do something about the dueling(this is a dueling game, right?).
I do have a couple of concerns though.
1. Why would anyone pay in nuggets to offset what inno did with duel levels? Put it back the way it was.
2. 1% ? Perhaps make it x amount of duel levels reduced per potion. Much easier imo.
3. 400 nuggets? Man, I need some of that stuff y'all are smoking. 400 is way too much for the limited amount of reduction(that inno by changing duel levels caused to begin with.). Perhaps 50 bonds.

As always ymmv,

I do agree with Kidd that it's nice that they're attempting to do something, and asked for feedback on it.

I thought part of the issue before was 0 mot duelers keeping their DL low so now that they can't do that they could buy a potion and do the same thing. Those that are willing to pay the price can keep dropping and go after lower levels that can't begin to compete. This means more folks quitting resulting in less players and even less opponents for everyone.

I also agree that it should be a set amount of levels.. say one level per potion for x amount of nuggets or bonds. If bonds are used then the cost would need to be high enough so it wouldn't be used indiscriminately. If it's strictly nuggets then you are again looking at folks feeling discriminated against by those willing to spend money on the game. The issue is then the cost... too high and folks won't bother and too low and some will take advantage of it. It's a matter of figuring out how low you can drop by losing duels vs buying potions.

These would also have to not be able to be sold. Anyone that purchased the potion would have to be the one to use it instead of throwing them on the market for anyone with extra millions to spend to buy them.

now now, Kidd.. That's not the point of having a Beta :/ :D

Agree, 2 potions = price of a DoD or equivalent Tier 5 item.. Doesn't seem worth it, bonds is an option or 200 nuggets MAX.

However, as Kidd also pointed out, all this does, is cancel out Inno's previous changes.... and by previous changes, I mean, killing the duelling formula :)

just my 2 cents,

Well I'm sad that all of the beta feedback for the set changes was ignored. Also sad that all of the potion feedback from beta was ignored. There's obviously zero point posting my thoughts again for another round of forced ignorance though, so that's my feedback - that we feel that we are always ignored - Feedback which will itself undoubtedly be ignored.
I'm not sure if this is a consious decision by game management to simply ignore the player base, or failure of the community managers to fully understand and express how deeply all of their individual gaming communities are effected by the negative decisions taken by management.

Subsequently I shall be rebranding the company in my head to IgnoGames from now on.

Take it from someone who gave way too many craps about a once great game for far too many years, and save your typing until you find a game that cares about the users experience.

1. Thank you for the free potion.
2. Using real money to drop the duel level? Did April Fools day come early this year?
3. Here's an idea! Maybe you can add a potion that will increase the DL? Similar to wisdom potions. Duelers can use the potion you just added to drop their DL, and non-duelers can use the other one to increase DL and run away from them. And when duelers eventually catch up with non-duelers, it will be the other way around? Everybody spends money on potions all the time, woo-hoo! Ka-ching!!:no:

Or maybe, just maybe you quit all this nonsense and implement some of the ideas players gave you over the years? That is, if you want to improve the game. If you want us to leave, then carry on and keep ignoring us, you're doing a great job.
This thread is 7 years old: https://forum.the-west.net/index.php?threads/the-west-2013-or-quo-vadis-inogames.52143/
Practically nothing changed. Or, almost nothing changed for the better. I feel stupid for staying so long, unlike the 3/4 of the players that left since then.

Apparently adding this potion into the shop for 400 nuggets is within a limited skill set of the people that INNO employs to still work on this game. To implement some of the ideas the players have been putting forward or to fix some of the stuff that is really broken right now (fort fight formula - one of many examples i can give), INNO would actually need someone that knows what he/she is doing and pay that person accordingly for their time which would be required to make this game fun again. Apparently that is not in INNO budget any longer. What is in their budget though, is some players naivity and stupidity to pay for something that INNO messed up some time ago. That is my "to be ignored feedback" dear IGNOGAMES

Inno's main focus right now is on making new games and on their very popular games like Grepolis. The West is just a backwater project, kept alive because people still play it and it still brings in some cash.
(..) to me it seems unbelievable that they actually chose to let the number of players decrease, which in turn means less money for them - after they have invested so much in this product!?

why not advertise and try to sell this product to a larger number of players and earn more?
could it be that they gave up on The West? could it be that they don't want more people to play this game?

everything points to the conclusion that the answer is "yes". and I can't understand that business model.
I've seen players playing this game again,
because either they want to duel or want to fort fight. I never seen someone back in this game for crafting or building forts.:)

Every updates widens the gap between premium and non-premium players.
These three from the 7 year old topic sums it up and still quite valid today.
(See here too: https://forum.beta.the-west.net/index.php?threads/situation-of-the-game.3477)

And
INNO would actually need someone that knows what he/she is doing and pay that person accordingly for their time which would be required to make this game fun again
Or someone playing the game at the very least. As far as I know Community Managers, and/or their head (Lead CM) doesn't.

And all the Dev team "capable" of doing atm seems like adding a BUGGED quest every few weeks, and recolored tombola sets.
I have no idea how they even managed to make HTML5 Battles right. (They didn't improve/update anything else though)

What is in their budget though, is some players naivity and stupidity to pay for something that INNO messed up some time ago
Some people says, we can play the game because of those big spenders.
Well if that's the case, I wish they stopped doing that and this bs was closed completely so that we could move on.

In my opinion to make sure people don't take advantage of this potion .. it should have like a 2 week or 1 month cooldown per use.. but i would say 100 bond/nugget per potion is reasonable

since I am not a dueler, I do not see the value of the new potion.
It seems to me that the amount it lowers is small {at least at my level} and I believe it said that it could only be used once a week.
SO unless the duelers that want to lower their levels significantly take a break in dueling too, it isn't going to help them much.
For what it offers, it shouldn't cost any thing at all.

Hello,
look, I got a drink from the shaman that will reduce my duel experience. Apparently, you can use it once a week. I thought you might want to test how it works. Let us know if the price of 400 nuggets is a good price to sell such a drink.

Picks up Mysterious Potion, examines it closely while swirling bottle, takes a sniff.
Phew! That's some nasty smelling stuff, Waupee

Taste it? No thanks. The shaman may have better marketing with Union Pacific if they allow re-selling or making it a rare drop from jobs. Please ask the shaman if he's got some Potion of Invulnerability at fort fights, won't you?

If Inno ever re-sells the Union Officer set versus considering re-balancing fort fights via class abilities away from the already overwhelming advantages given to duelers and workers, it'll prove a) they are greedy and are going for the easy buck and b) they are simply lazy.

Sorry, if you keeping this wheezing, skeletal creature-of-a-game alive, yet at the same time doing massive cash grabs like the UO set and schemes like the DotD/Christmas tombola combos, don't say "we can't cover dev of the West with our current budget". It seems like more of a conscious choice not to put in effort versus a fiscal inability.

Otherwise, if The West is only solvent because of a couple people ego-boosting themselves to be better than everyone else + these tombola schemes and OP set grabs, then it is time to pull the plug. If that really is the case, the basis of your game's profitability is rooted in negativity as opposed to its heyday when it was fun, clever, innovative and genuinely engaging. That was the fuel that drove the game's players and its developers in the past.

The West 2.0 has became a bad cash-grab mobile casino game that barely works on mobiles.

But it still has an amazingly loyal playerbase because of what it once was and could be again, it's truly a miracle of gaming.
