Clegg, of the Liberal Democrat Party, has already said he does not want to preserve the current labour government as he doesn't want to prop up a dying party.
It's my understanding that if the BBC exit polls hold (I don't trust polls much) there is a new election coming within a few months just like what happened in 1974.
