The West Avatars V3.0

Proposal:

Completely overhaul the avatars in-game, lending a greater degree of diversity and creativity to the choices available for players to use with a combination of both classic, present and brand new avatars. This has the potential to add revenue for innogames without adversely impacting player experience or balance in the game.

Current Workaround:

Mostly only the V2.0 avatars are available to use. Players who were active through various events accumulate the avatar parts that come as a reward in some of them. But otherwise, there's no way to get the old classic avatars or the avatar parts from past events.

Details:

The proposal falls into four main groups - classic version, the return of avatar parts from past events, brand new avatars and deluxe event winner avatars. Each of these can be obtained through various routes, which are laid out as below with relevant visual representation.

Classic Plus avatars

The 16 original west avatars will be made available again for players for a certain amount of nuggets.

In addition to the above, a bunch of other character avatars like the shaman, dark priestess, trapper, among others can be made available for players to use for some nuggets.

Before release, the classic avatars will need to be resized slightly to fully fit in the player profile window

Return of avatar parts

A bunch of avatar parts from past events could be put on the union pacific shop for some bonds so that players who missed those events have an opportunity to get them.

(continued in a second post owing to the limit of uploading only 10 images per post)

Abuse Prevention
Pretty much non-existent, avatar parts do not affect game mechanics.

Visual Aids
Since this proposal is about changing a visual aspect of the game, all visuals have been included in the main body of the idea for additional clarity.

Summary

Adding a greater diversity of avatars to the game will lend a greater amount of color and variety to the players. Instead of putting out "collector sets" and "event winner weapons" which often carry a risk of harming the game balance, Innogames could release these avatars in some nugget sales as a sustainable way to raise revenue.

Administration
Does this idea meet the Ideas Guidelines & Criteria? Yes
Does this idea appear on any of the Previously Suggested Ideas List? No

Part 2:

Brand new avatars

These will be completely new avatars, to give a fresh look and a wider variety of choices for players. These can be available for nuggets.

Deluxe event winner avatars

For most tombola events, the reward for the player racking up the most points is a special event winner's weapon set. For some events, instead of a weapon set, a unique, limited edition avatar can be given as a reward. These can be the image of a famous personality.

Some examples of limited edition avatars - Clint Eastwood, John D. Rockefeller, Benjamin Franklin

I like this idea but in regards to Part 2 you are running into copyright issues and/or rights to use issues with celebrities. Certainly, there are many public domain imagery of 19th century content that could be used. The problem there is inconsistency of quality, dimensions, color, clarity, and style. Inno doesn't do many things well but the avatars do have a stylistic consistency as a collection of imagery.

In other words, Inno artists would have to get involved to make new avatars which I for one would support but I'm sure Inno financially would scoff away this idea as a last minute laugh in a late afternoon boardroom meeting while checking their bank statements on their phones.

The core part of the proposal, ofc is to bring back the classic avatars. The rest is an additional point that could be independently considered.

The images I posted in part 2 are just representational and it'll be up to innogames to design the images on their own. But as I pointed out in the idea text, the sale of avatars could replace some sales of nugget sets and event winner weapons. The same time inno's artists spend designing multiple tombola sets - probably around 40 individual pieces per event - can very easily be used in designing avatars. It's generally not that difficult or time-intensive designing avatars as you think it is.

I'm totally with you on bringing back the classic avatars. I'd gladly spend nuggets to have access to those (especially the blue bandana Indian). As an artist, I have to disagree with you about Image #2. That is a full-fledged illustration that in the gaming market would cost 1-2,000 dollars from a quality artist. This game cannot afford that. Instead, based on your line of thinking, I'd rather see Inno artists double the options for all the current cosmetic choices. Then maybe make a certain percentage of those premium. I'm not a fan of making an avatar the sole reward for an event. If it was part of a standard gear package that would be great.

This hasn't stopped them in the past, doubt it'll stop them now. Keep in mind that one of the "personalised avatars" they've given away, is literally an image from Assassin's Creed but mirrored.

Well, all the NPC images from the "Relentless" quest are all plagiarized stills from the film Unforgiven pasted into The West avatar art. It's still unethical and illegal. The fact that it's been done in the past doesn't make it any less unethical or illegal.

there exists a plagiarised avatar of Father Jack, that took them like 3 years to render after a player called Father Jack got the custom avatar friends reward, and it's absolutely glorious. I wish I could get that in-game without having to introduce friends to a casino simulator :p

I want my trapper avatar back with the ability to make slight tweaks. My signature line here was based on my guy looking like Davey Crocket
