Add-on The Saloon Bar - 1.30 update release

DeletedUser

Add-on Details
Available From: Mozilla Website
Add-on Version: 3.9
Works on Version: 1.5 - 3.6x

I'm proud to announce the updated Saloon Bar, a Firefox sidebar extension for all your job calculation needs...or most of them, at least.

Installation

1. Download the extension from the official Mozilla site
2. Follow the instructions given by Firefox

Once you've followed the installation steps and restarted Firefox, The Saloon Bar will be ready to use.

Displaying The Saloon Bar

To open The Saloon Bar, select the View menu, followed by Sidebar. This will provide an option which will allow you to toggle The Saloon Bar display. Alternatively, press Ctrl-Shift-S whilst in Firefox to toggle the sidebar.

Initializing

Before you can use The Saloon Bar, you need to provide it with information about your character and your character's equipment. To initialize the system:

1. Log in to The West
2. Open your Inventory screen
3. Click the Update Details button in The Saloon Bar
4. Wait a little
5. Wait some more

Whilst you're waiting, The Saloon Bar will be calculating the optimum equipment for all jobs. The more equipment you have, the longer this will take. During this time, Firefox will not respond to any actions so please be patient.

You will need to re-initialize The Saloon Bar if you find or buy new equipment. You will also need to re-initialize if you change your skill or attribute levels. However, The Saloon Bar will store information across sessions: you do not need to re-initialize if you shut down Firefox, turn off your computer or buy a new car.

Displaying Your Job List

After initialization, the list of jobs your character can do will be displayed in The Saloon Bar. Four buttons at the top of the bar give you the option to order your jobs by money, experience, luck or total. Each button will order jobs in descending order (for example, clicking the star button will display all possible jobs with the job giving the best experience at the top of the list).

The default behaviour for The Saloon Bar is to hide jobs which your character can't do. By removing the tick from the box marked "Hide Impossible Jobs", however, you can set The Saloon Bar to show jobs regardless of whether you can actually do them.

Displaying Job Advice

To receive advice on the best equipment to wear for any given job, click on the job within the job list. Images will appear indicating the best hat, neckwear, body clothing, boots and weapon to use when working on the specified job.

The Saloon Bar will also show you the predicted labour points for the specified job.

Please note that The Saloon Bar does not calculate data for combinations of item sets. The Saloon Bar provides advice but this advice may not be 100% accurate if you own items from multiple sets which, in conjuction, provide the best bonuses to the specified job.

Support

The Saloon Bar is provided without warranty and without any guarantee of support. Feel free to notify me of any bugs or discrepancies that you find but unless they're issues which particularly irritate me, I'm not likely to get around to fixing them. Please use PM or email to provide notification of any bugs.

Here I'll discuss known bugs/limitations/issues and planned future development.

1.55: Sidebar should now work on Beta server.
1.56: Fixed bug in job equipment calculation. Added job details (wages, experience, luck) to job hint.
2.1: Support for item sets. Automatic updates.
2.2: Correction to Mexican set effects.
2.3: Typo fixes
2.4: Correction to Charlatan set effects.
2.5: Updated "Building a fort" job to read "Construct manor house" as per game update.
2.6:

* Modified interface to ensure that equipment advice does not scroll
* Added new "sort by" button to order jobs by name
* Ensured that advice takes character level into account

2.7: Fixed bug which prevented advice being calculated if not all items were equipped (e.g. if you did not have a horse).
2.8: Fixed bug which displayed male-only equipment to female characters and vice versa.
2.9: Added support for multiple set combinations
2.10:
* Added drop down list of jobs (sortable)
* Added button to order jobs by labour points
* Corrected display of job when switching between tabs

2.11: Fixed bug in gentleman's set info for 4 items (4 was treated as 5)
3.0: Last Bevoir's version
* Improved interface
* Job bookmarking/go to
* Sales advice
* Faster calculations
3.6: First Belle's version
* Fixed bug in dancer's set info (added Kudram's Parasol)
* Fixed bug in all jobs calculations (1 point difference issue)
3.7:
* Added a few more corrections... I've also added basic support for fort battles... You can choose Fort Attack or Fort Defence clothes... It calculates sets from basic skils needed for fort battles... Probably more advanced users would like to choose from different clothes, but it serves it's purpose for quick calculations...
3.8:
* beta version... added all new jobs and corrected the fields, but I still didn't wrote the code for pants and belts. I promise I will do it as soon as possible...
3.83:
* Finally version 3.83 is up added new jobs (sorted by labour points only for now) and support for fort weapons, belts, and pants... There's still a few things to work on, but in generally it's usable...
3.85:
* Corrected labour points in some jobs, added wages, luck, experience and danger with current jobs... Also added some of the new sets...
3.9:
* Version 3.9 contains updated looks, so the doll looks just like ingame... Also added and corrected all new sets, so enjoy it.

I assume golden set bonus labor points are not included, because I didn't add new sets info yet, but then the difference should be 25 LP... Can you give me some more information about... I cannot test it myself since I don't and probably won't have golden set for a long time... :p I need to know the difference for every single weapon first...

Or maybe wait until tomorrow 3.9 release includes some corrections in labour points and we can speak about this later if you're willing to help me correct this...

Yea I've noticed that in 3.8 final that the new jobs do show up with pants and etc, but when I sort by highest exp or $ it leaves some jobs without a value.

Im getting a popup with the following javascript error:
"Error displaying job: setLibrary.Sets[item.set] is undefined".

Depending on the job I select, it only shows 2-4 items.

Is this a common known problem ?

No you're the first one reporting it... I'll check it out... Did you uninstall previous version before, I need to know if you're using last one 3.85... And if it's possible if you can tell what you've tried to do...

Can you set saloon bar to show expected earning of experience, money and value drop?
Because for example if I've 3 good jobs for money incoming, with great differecences of lp, I can recognize the best in 1 second! The same for experience and luck.

Im not getting that error... but as for not showing everything I've gotten that in the past.
Go into settings and clear data button.
Then click on update details.
then the main page.

Hope that helps.

I will try and check it later what exactly happens under which circumstances.
I did deinstall de old version first btw, and installed the latest 3.85 version earlier today.
Furthermore it seemed to me the calculations were not correct, but dont pin me on that one, I'll look into that tomorrow too and get back to you.
Its 2 am here, bedtime atm :p

I also found some calculations weren't correct. One job that I am working towards doing, "Building a Casino", with correct gear shows me -15 point but with the gear The Saloon Bar suggested it was -67. Many jobs were accurate but some were not however it is a good program if bugs can be eliminated.

They can be eliminated... screenshot would be nice, so I can see what to correct because unfortunately I can not test everything due to different equipment we wear... :p

I can't do a screenshot but this might help (figures are different now):

Saloon Bar chose for Building a Casino giving -51 points:
Fancy Bow Tie
Indian Feather Hat
Wrench
Yellow Cotton Jacket
Scythe
Donkey (not Mustang which would have given set points)
Yellow Knee-breeches
Grey Skull Belt
Fancy Cotton Shoes
Tequila

Other choice which gave +1 points:

Same except for:
Hat: Lincoln's Top Hat
Shoes: Brown Pilgrims shoes
Jacket: Grey Cotton Jacket

Hope this helps

I see... I guess it's a problem with job skills needed not with equipment, because it calculates highest labour points automaticly.... Unfortunately I cannot even see this job ingame you've mentioned, so I have a little request. Please check the table in bottom link and tell me if there are correct skills inserted with this job. (I think I've inserted 3 x construction, 1 x repairing, 1 x leadership) Also I'd like to know it you can wear all this equipment you've mentioned. (also if the skills are correct donkey and mexican set is better choice then mustang... this job don't even need the mobility, but it needs 3 construction, so it choose 3 x construction skill) It calculates correct, but I don't know if the skills inserted are correct.

Thank you.

The skills are correct in your spreadsheet ie 3x construction, 1x repairing, 1x leadership. The labour points required is also correct.

The difference comes with the equipment. The Indian Feather only has +14 whereas Lincolns Hat has +42; the Yellow Cotton Jacket has +36 whereas Grey Cotton Jacket has +39 and the Fancy Cotton shoes has +3 whereas the Brown Pilgrim shoes has +24.

I hope you understand that I am not trying to be picky. It is a good program which I have used in the past, but it seems to still have some bugs in it and I hope this info helps.
