Around half of Fairbanks', Idaho's and Kansas' battles got classed as "Better". By implication, most of Brisco's, El Dorado's and Galveston's would be classed as "worse". :D

Participation by adding the fighter totals together is quick and easy and I'm not asking Goober to do more work than necessary, but how cool would it be to see Colorado (and the rest) broken down by Number of Participants in all 64 battles, 63, 62, 61.... the lone dude who barely made it to one?

Good for the 134 fighting to keep Dakota a healthy territory but I think it's unfair to blame the other 309 residents for its bad shape. It would be like duelers blaming not having enough targets because a lot of players choose to play townless; or not having enough adventures because players don't have the patience or the time to sit idle and wait hours, not knowing how much longer it'll take for one to start. Some people don't like fort fighting; some do not understand how it works; some hate the drama. Some have better things to do, say dueling or crafting, or just play for quests or to keep in touch with old friends. For those of us who have been on Dakota from Day 1, it's easier to understand why --on a list that includes several people who would regularly set the alarm to fight online at 3am-- some attended as many as 22 battles and as little as 0. But it's sort of hard to explain to those who cannot understand how it used to be, because they lack the background and have nothing to compare to as a reference.

Next month, I turn 2y/o on Dakota, so yeah, I never got to experience back-in-the-day.

I don't blame anyone for making Dakota worse. We've kinda lost the "Massively" part of our MMO a while ago, but the whole point of having other people in your Territory is to hang out with them. FF has the largest chat channel dedicated to one thing for any specific period of time. I mean, I love to wave at the guy I'm dueling as much as the next person, but some of the time, they're not even on-line. Where's the witty banter? I have to wait for days on people for them to gear up for our duel and by the time they do, I've had to replace my duel buffs with FF buffs because, hey, there's a bunch of people who want to get together to do something.

Addy is good, yeah. Hang out with people who yell at me, then never have to see them again because they live in another territory? That 15m chat channel is worth the hours long wait to queue up.

I'm not saying that everyone should FF. I'm saying that those who do actually care about more than just their own play and want to see Dakota return to being a place where everyone does everything because it's a great territory to live in.

Since Goober is making the attempt to improve FF, FF is what is being used to determine the health of a territory. Maybe the Addy Mod or the Duelist Mod or the Crafting Mod (!) feel their portion of the game indicates health. Cool! They should. But they haven't made the effort to introduce themselves or create multiple Global Forum threads on their aspect.

309 people didn't make it worse, they're just biding their time for the right moment to take their turn to make it better.

I got your point, but I also understand why other people quit fort fighting or the game. Like I said, it's kind of hard to get it when you have no better times to compare to. Or better said, a healthier game. The decline of the game has some very specific reasons that a lot of players have already pointed out. Lack of marketing to attract new players is one. Worse yet, in my opinion, is the inability to keep the player base they already have due to one stupid change after another. We could do with one stupid change or two, but they simply keep piling up. I mean, can you imagine the Klindworth brothers (the creators of the original game. You know, the one that actually won awards in the gaming industry and kept thousands joining & playing daily from 2008 to 2012) logging to check the game today? "Oh look, Hendrick. They've added so many cool things to the game since we left the development to others". "I've noticed, Eike. How come we never thought of them? Nothing says old wild west like cowboys and cowgirls riding their iguanas into the sunset, dressed as Liberace-meets-Dolly Parton, while playing their marimbas". And of course, the click click clickety click events make it all so more enjoyable that we are dying to keep playing. HOPE YOU READ THIS, MICHAEL ZILLMER.

While the general "blame the corporate people for ruining a great game" big reason resonates the loudest, there are other factors to take into account to explain the decline of each world, that more times than not are specific just to them. In the particular case of Dakota, for instance, it once was a very thriving and active world. It had a large base; it featured daily full battles; it had a lot of dueling going too. Insert the reasons mentioned above that irritated many players and made them quit the game. Then some of the newer players started to complain about the dominance of one alliance, how their spending was leaving the rest unable to compete at the same level and blah blah blah, same whine I hear on every world, until their leader had enough and decided to step down and let others do it their way. For the record, that leader had been -from day one- the overpowering super spender, super experienced player on that world and that alliance had always been the Goliath to beat as well (and it was beatable, as proved several times). It only became an issue like ten years later and many players gone. So, whine a lot until a leader & his town take the back seat to watch others do their thing, and you get Dakota today. Who would've thought that not everybody is born to be a leader, or that the title doesn't automatically make someone a leader, right? I could go on and explain the reasons for every world but that's just pointless when nobody is actually willing to see trees and forest, because apparently they know better.

The health of this game and its worlds depends on measures the company has decided to ignore for...I don't get why.
