Riddles

No recent riddle threat so I'll just start one.

Lets start with an easy one.

There are two lengths of rope.
Each one can burn in exactly one hour.
They are not necessarily of the same length or width as each other.
They also are not of uniform width (may be wider in middle than on the end), thus burning half of the rope is not necessarily 1/2 hour.

By burning the ropes, how do you measure exactly 45 minutes worth of time?

first rope: burn both end of that rope
second rope: burn one end
wait until the first rope is vanish, burn the other end of the second rope and that how u have 45 minutes

 Cant see how that would work.

Ends dont have to burn equally, so whilst waiting for first to "vanish", it could have been 15 mins, but it could have been any other time too for the second one.

Just rethought it, maybe it could work out right. Miss read what you wrote.

With pointed fangs it sits in wait,
With piercing force its doles out fate,
Over bloodless victims proclaiming its might,
Eternally joining in a single bite.
What am I?

To guard A 'If I asked guard B if this is the door to life what would he say?'

If it is the door to freedom and A is the liar, B would say yes, so A will lie and say no. If A is the truthful one and B the liar, then B will say no, and A will report his answer truthfully. Either way he knows that if the answer is no then it is the door to freedom?

Here is one I found in another place. Called the Einstein Riddle. If you google it you can find the answer of it right away, but thats no fun now is it. Try and figure this one out by yourself. I did, and when I had the answer, I googled it and found out I was wrong ...but it was fun trying to figure it out.

There are 5 houses in 5 different colors. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage. The question is: Who owns the fish?
Hints:

  • [*]The Brit lives in the red house.
[*]The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
    [*]The Dane drinks tea.
[*]The green house is on the left of the white house.
    [*]The green homeowner drinks coffee.
[*]The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
[*]The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
[*]The man living in the center house drinks milk.
[*]The Norwegian lives in the first house.
[*]The man who smokes Blend lives next to the one who keeps cats.
[*]The man who keeps the horse lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
[*]The owner who smokes Bluemaster drinks beer.
    [*]The German smokes prince.
[*]The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
[*]The man who smokes Blend has a neighbor who drinks water.

Einstein Riddle.
I was going to post this one, but you beat me to it.

Not only do I have the answer (worked it out myself)
[spoil]The German in the green house (#4) owns the fish[/spoil]
But I have also the steps on how to work it out, which I will post later after more people attempted the riddle.

first rope: burn both end of that rope
second rope: burn one end
wait until the first rope is vanish, burn the other end of the second rope and that how u have 45 minutes
If u burn 1 end, the rope will vanish in 1h, so if u burn 2 end, it will be 30 minutes

Simple. I'll ask each guard how many hands I have. The truthful one will say 2, the liar will say 563.
