RP Discussion Post Apocalyptic Role Play idea discussion

If Oisinallen were still here, I'd contact him and ask him to come up with some ideas for what the outcasts and creatures could look like... That man was artistic too

I'm stuck on what could be done with Moose, Bear, Wolves, Elk, Deer, and other animals and stuff like that.

DeletedUser

Depending on the disaster ( Nuclear in this case ) They could be altered in any way. Some animals might not have alot of radiation thus not changing that much. Others could have alot making them waaaay diffrent in apperance and additude twords other animals, humans, etc. So basicly depending on how much radiation they take in, they could all look diffrent in some ways.

Yay! Justin can do that, but I also have another question about drawable characters.

I've been thinking pretty hard on this, and I've basically got it down right, character appearances will differ based on their culture (Outcast, Cape Towner, Mist Terrace member, ect.) And I've got some good ideas for designs of them.

Cape Towner's are a smaller, more self-sufficient civilization due to their lack of roads and more heightened technology. Their fields are dry and crop-like and their Red cattle are hearded by them on foot, or some other means I suppose, so I am thinking of a more Western-oriented character basis. Women and Men are dressed to do work, their clothes are sturdy yet manuverable, and their civility is just as tough and direct. They don't play around with their time unless there's nothing they need to do.

In Contrast, Mist Terrace is a more mixed culture, with some elitist people whom do very little work (people dressed in dresses and suits), and then there are people who are dressed for work, much like Cape Town's township, but not as extreme due to the higher population and better technology.

Outsiders are a whole different story. Mist Terrace deals with its criminals by simply selling them to slavers, or outright killing them and fertalizing their livestocks food with the bodies, but Cape Town created the outsiders. Outsiders are Cape Town criminals, removed from township for whatever reason, be it a supposed 'witch craft' or even as much as murder, they are forced out of Cape Town across the stream and must remain in exile, however, they are offered to send their children to Cape Town if they have any. Nevertheless, some children are not sent to Cape Town, they are born as outsiders and remain so, becoming a symbol for their culture as they train to be a warrior/hunter type of being. They dress in rougher clothes than even Cape Towners, as well, as simple Leather skirts, loincloths and half-shirts suffice.

As for Slavers, they take whatever sturdy gear they can find. Leather hide shirts, to leftover Kevlar vests and impact-resistant clothing and boots. They are meant to take punishment as they make their living off of slave-labor and sales of other humans and mutated attack animals.

So here's to sum it all up:

Mist Terrace resident: Well clothed or average-sturdy clothing.

Cape Town: average-sturdy clothing

Outcasts: Sturdy-rough clothing and leather clothing (women wear skirts, men wear chaps/pants)

Slavers: Sturdy-rough clothing and leather clothing (Only men, and they wear thick leather or military based clothing.) Some slavers even wear metalic suits that can withstand the impact of a fist or sometimes even a club.

I was thinking of being an Outcast, but this way Slavers sound really awesome.

I was thinking of being an Outcast, but this way Slavers sound really awesome.

Slavers aren't very self-sufficient, and everyone hates them.

Outcasts are basically neutrals, and only the most powerful slavers ever even think about going after them. Outcast men are strong enough to take out an average Slaver with his bare hands, and Outcast women are tough enough to do damage to a small party as well. Outcasts are also a very well self-sustainable society.

I'm going to go ahead and list some of the "surviving" weapons avalible as well.

Now, when I say 'Common', that means one in every 40 people has one, and we aren't talking about populations that dense, that's how rare guns are getting now. I'll think of something for ammo later, but how does this stuff sound?

Common

Revolvers:

Winchester 94'

Semi-Auto:
AK-47
SKS

Shotgun:

Mossberg 500

As you can see, the only 'common' gun is the M1911A2... Good luck with finding the ammo ;) Which I will implement ideas later on.

The reason for the limits on weapons is to promote more Melee and CQB and improvised weaponry combat. I want the Roleplayers to struggle with what they can make, which I'll eventually list some ideas.

Outcast with a Ak-47? Me liekah

Outcasts will actually have less access to firearms, but when they do have them they are hard to rival because they know the land like the knuckles of their fist. Outcasts are supreme ambushers and raiders, making passers by (I'm adding more paths) easy victims to robbery, for those who keep their criminal pasts.

Basically, Outcasts are low-tech brutes. Using a 120 year old firearm may do them good I guess, but they will have probably no access to things other than the blue and green range.

As a matter of fact, I'm editing that weapons list.

Mmmk But pehalps they ambushed some one with a Ak-47

It's a scarce gun, probably 5 of the leading Outcasts would posess a few.

Again, to all those who haven't seen it, these are the very limited weapons to be featured, they are some of the most durable firearms, based on personal and internet experience. Eventually, I will include ammo commonality as well.

Id pick a a person with a rich background, but left home to wonder the waste. That way, Better guns, bit of experiance, and not a rich snot :p

For Ammunition I have researched the different calibers, and combined with Personal experience, grouped them into rarities. Eventually, I will link up which calibers are compatable with whichever gun, and maybe even in the near future, branch out the guns via caliber sorting depending on the commonality of the gun and ammunition used by the dedicated-ammo gun.

Yes Rawdog, but you have to remember, everyone grew up in an area around the map, and it's been 53 years since the disaster that 'ended the world'. You'll be limited to the listed weapons and ammo... or you'll not get to play. I am making this based on the complaints of everyone, guns make it fun, but it's no fun when everyone is toating around 75 pounds of machineguns with infinate ammo, and no, there will be no fully automatic weapons. This is the northern remains of what was the USA, and people are limited to these boundaries for now, and what guns survived they will be using.

AK-47
The AK-47 is the world's most widely-used assault rifle. I would call it at least an occasional in this scenario.

The map is getting more awesome with each addition (maybe an outpost or 2 in the latest area?).

Characters, Classes, Factions and Fonts.

Now that most of you are noticing that this is going pretty well, I'm adding a new idea to the mixture. Characters, Classes, Factions, and Fonts.

Of course, you are creating the typical character chart, and the typical yada yada yada, but I've got my own little ideas to serve up to this.

Based on your faction, you will have 4 specialist classes to choose from, each of them with a fighting capability of their own, and a special alteration in factions as different factions specialize in different things.

Colors:
Brutal classes are this color
Stealth classes are this color
Economy classes are this color
Charm classes are this color
Agricultural classes are this color
Multi-specialist classes are this color

Mist Terracers- As a rule for this game, players will use certain fonts and colors when writing their posts in this game pertaining to their faction and class. Size 2 Verdana will be reserved for OCC commentary, and it's coloration will be black.

As a Mist Terracer, your writing font will be Georgia.

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, what does your choice in class have to do with anything?

Well, there will be four primary classes.

Militia- Mist Terrace Militia are strong men, able to take a beating while also able to dish it out. They have the ability to use any gun they come across.

Farmer- Farmers have the ability to create goods and sell to the community. They have training in how to effectively use a Revolver, Rifle, Shotgun, or Semi-automatic rifle.

Merchant- Merchants are specialists in the art of the smooth tounge, they have the ability to sell anything to the local populace, and they can barter down the price on most goods. Merchants have training in how to effectively use Pistols and Revolvers.

Con Artist- Con Artists are specialists in the art of the smooth tounge, they are able to talk their way out of almost anything, and can convince others to do their bidding in some way, or to give them an object. They can convince someone to hate them, or they can convince someone to love them. Con Artists are a specialist class of Merchant, however, they have given up their ability to buy things at a lower price and are often looked down upon in Mist Terrace as they often target the rich part of the population in Main and Axis. Con Artists have training in how to effectively use Shotguns, Pistols and Revolvers.

Cape Towners- As a rule for this game, players will use certain fonts and colors when writing their posts in this game pertaining to their faction and class. Size 2 Verdana will be reserved for OCC commentary, and it's coloration will be black.

As a Cape Towner, your writing font will be Book Antiqua.

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, what does your choice in class have to do with anything?

Well, there will be four primary classes.

Militia- Cape Town Militia are marksmen in their own way, able to effectively hit a target 50 yards away without breaking a sweat. However, being far from the convoy road and having little need of it, they abandoned the usage of Semi-automatic firearms 10 years ago for a more manual labor intensive civilization, similar to that in the history books, known as the "old west." They have training to use Rifles, Revolvers, and Shotguns.

Rough Neck- Rough Necks are beefed up Farmers, literally. Rough Necks are livestock experts, able to breed and raise the post-war cattle that inhabit the area. What they can do with livestock, an ordinary farmer couldn't dream of, unfortuinately, it's the same for the way they have no ability to grow crops, and livestock can be dangerous, especially after accounting the fact that some of the animals have odd mentalities as well. Rough Necks have training in how to effectively use a Rifle, Shotgun and Revolver.

Farmer- Farmers have the ability to create goods and sell to the community. They have training in how to effectively use a Rifle and Shotgun. Being from Cape Town, they know how to work the soil like sand. They have better growing abilities that farmers in Mist Terrace would dream about.
Merchant- Merchants are specialists in the art of the smooth tounge, they have the ability to sell anything to the local populace, and they can barter down the price on most goods. Merchants have training in how to effectively use Revolvers and Shotguns.

Outcasts- As a rule for this game, players will use certain fonts and colors when writing their posts in this game pertaining to their faction and class. Size 2 Verdana will be reserved for OCC commentary, and it's coloration will be black.

As an Outcast, your writing font will be Trebuchet MS.

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, what does your choice in class have to do with anything?

Well, there will be four primary classes.

Raiders- Raiders attack Caravans and Settlements, Raiders are a force to be reckoned with. Raiders have the strength of two ordinary men (or women), and they can easily kill a man with their bare hands. That said, they are a pure breed of Outcast, children born in Exile, they grew to kill. Raiders have training in how to use Revolvers, Shotguns, and Rifles, not that they come across many guns. To make up for the lack of powder weaponry, and to utilize their strength, Raiders can use Axes, Swords, Bows and Arrows, and even three inch steel reinforced shields. They are virtually tanks, but they have limited access to supplies and are often not the best against large groups.

Hunters- Hunters are expert marksmen, able to prey on the game and not be heard for miles. They are a breed formed from being birthed into Exile, and not wanting to go to Cape Town. They are light footed and stealth shootists, able to pick out an Elk and kill it silently from anywhere between 5 and 500 yards away, if their rifle has a good scope, and if they have a rifle. Hunters have the ability to use Rifles and Revolvers.

Ambushers- Ambushers are silent assassins, able to sneak up behind their prey and take them down without disturbing as much as another bystander, if they have plenty of room. They are a breed born from Exiles, and they know how to effectively take down a human in nearly every close up lethal and non-lethal way possible. They are experts with knives, swords, and attacks from-behind, and they know how to use Shotguns, Pistols and Revolvers.

Workers- Workers of the Outcasts are often simply exiled Cape Towners, however, from their lack of association, they have developed the ability to breed livestock as well, albiet not as good as a CT roughneck. They can also Manufacture top quality Swords, bows and arrows, shields, knives, and can even re-load spent cartridges. The workers can use Revolvers.

Slavers- As a rule for this game, players will use certain fonts and colors when writing their posts in this game pertaining to their faction and class. Size 2 Verdana will be reserved for OCC commentary, and it's coloration will be black.

As a Slaver, your writing font will be Microsoft Sans Serif.

Now, you may be thinking to yourself, what does your choice in class have to do with anything?

Well, there will be four primary classes.

Lures- Lures live up to their name, they 'lure' unsuspecting victims into their traps, be it a group of Stockaders or a band of Raiders, they can do it. They can also talk people into doing what they want, be it threats or just their ability to use a smooth tounge, but they can often get more than just a person to fall into a trap, they can get a person to fall to their command. They have training in how to use Revolvers.

Raiders- Raiders attack Caravans and Settlements, Raiders are a force to be reckoned with. Raiders have the strength of One and a half men and they can easily kill a man with their bare hands. However, Raiders often have trouble taking down Outcasts, so they often prey on Cape Towners, Mist Terracers, or unaligned villages so they can fill their stockades and have their affairs with their victims, if it comes down to it. Slaver Raiders have training in how to use any firearm they come across, but they are often chased out of societies because they are too brutal and most people know a slaver by their gear. Slaver Raiders can wear steel reinforced leather suits.

Ambushers- Ambushers are silent assassins, able to sneak up behind their prey and take them down without disturbing as much as another bystander, if they have plenty of room. They are experts with knives and attacks from-behind, and they know how to use Pistols and Revolvers.

Stockmen- Slaver Stockmen are people who sell slaves to others, and put slaves in their cages. They are the Merchants of the Slaver world, specializing in the sale of 'live meat' and can get bargain deals on firearms. They are able to use Shotguns, Revolvers, and Pistols.

It may be, but don't forget, this is taking place in America. It is also 52 years after an apocalypse... Civilian models will be all that is around for usage, and though there will be plenty to begin with, rust will have eaten away at many due to the fact that it is made of metal, and they won't all exactly be pretty to use, nor able to be used for that matter. Calling it scarce is an overstatement IMO, Rare would be more realistic, but I want the Outsiders to be able to get ahold of one of these too.

Indeed it is, and as I had said, I'm not even done yet ;)

Now, I need reviews for my Character and Class sheet.
