Do the mounts (donkey/horses) affect the time between places and anything else?

Also does horse riding affect speed?

Yes to both. Upgrading your mode of transportation gets you from place to place faster and the more you increase your horseback riding skills the faster you will move.

For me it adds 1% speed for every skill point I give to horseback riding, try it.

If you don't have a donkey/horse, then horseback ridings adds ofcourse nothing in your move speed.
But if you own one, every skill at horseback ridding adds 1%.
