Motivation Explanation please

Does motivation effect how much you build when you work on a building?

Also does the level of construction skill you have effect how much progress you get done on a building.

Example:
I put 1 hour to work on the residence when i got back to town. Sold a few things then put another 1 hour work on the residence.

When both were completed I got 2 different builds:
You have expanded the building by 12 construction points. Motivation at 97%
You have expanded the building by 15 construction points. Motication at 94%

Why would the expansion differ? Is this just random numbers generated by some equation with construction skill? One would think you would be able to do the same amount and quality of work on a building each time.

i believe motivation increases the chance of finding stuff and how much xp/money you make

more motivation is better, if it gets low go do another job for a bit then come back.

I'm just not getting the equation.

My motivation in that case was lower and my construction skill stayed the same. Yet I built more on the Residence the second time. Shouldnt the Build be constant if your construction skill is constant or is there something else I'm not factoring in?

Motivation is not the only factor involved - I'm certain there is a hidden luck factor like Tribal Wars has... only we don't see the results.

Hidden luck factor is the only explanation for wildly different XP results I've gotten doing the same 2 hour job with varied motivation.

I got 54 XP when M was 94% and 71 XP when M was 89%, and I had several other results that were higher or lower then they should have been.

It's the labour points, not the construction skill that determine how much you build, did you increase repair or leadership between the works?

Motivation doesn't change the chance of finding an item (that is always the same) but the value of an item you may find. Products are not even affected by motivation.
Anyway, not sure if you can find stuff when building a town in first place.

Yes, there's some hidden variable for the calculation of XP and cash.
