Hey, this plan was actually working; the minotaur was actually following him and Kulos, and the rest of the group were free to ambush the minotaur in the city. Maybe Kulos was being a bit too aggressive with the distracting attacks, but overall things were going well. Kulos would attack and then dodge, Seamus would attack and dodge, and both were managing to lead the beast in circles. After a good while of doing this, they lead the minotaur into the city, where a yell by Donna commenced the attack. Immediately, a torrent of elemental blasts and physical attacks assailed the beast. Most normal creatures would be torn to pieces by this massive onslaught, but this thing was itself massive, as tall as the defencive walls surrounding Enylia and made of some unknown and abysmal netherstone. It could deal with the attacks. Before Seamus could do anything against the minotaur, Kulos was at its neck, hacking and slashing away, a wolf, wherever it came from, nipping and biting at the thing's neck, and was that Sam? slashing the beast's leg and forming a restraining earth feature. There was not any time for Seamus to question how he got there or where the others were; now was the time to attack. With a mighty yell, Seamus turned human and went for a stab to the thing's liver. If it worked anything like a human, a liver injury would cause massive bleeding, resulting in a rapid death due to exsanguination. And if he was lucky, Seamus would cause a minor disembowelment to go along with the liver destruction.

They reached the battlefield in fairly short order, which was good…Mandan wasn't sure he'd've been able to hold himself together much longer, what with Sera nearly crushing him she was holding onto him so hard. It was also probably good she was…he couldn't recoil in panic with this deathgrip as her shuddering moved itself into his body, such were the force of her tremors…and she had her head in his back…why…why…he almost didn't stop himself from moving sharply away from the blinded girl when Sam plucked them off his back. He managed to resist long enough for her to squeeze his hand one last time before shifting into her wolf form and charging at the bull creature that the others were fighting…Lecta and Seamus among them.

Well…this was what he'd wanted, right? A chance to do something that actually mattered…but seeing the thing that was causing the destruction…he wasn't a fighter…he had a dagger and a short sword…neither of which would be useful against the bull-like behemoth. Great. Useless again. If he could shift he could try to poison it with his dart frog form, but…nope, still couldn't manage it. Perfect. What good was he then? A final idea came to him…something he could do that wasn't related to his shifting…he took off towards the creature, attempting to not feel the terror swarming through him and failing miserably. He shut his eyes briefly, then opened them again…it wouldn't accomplish anything to not take a look…and then he was at it, the behemoth disgusting in all senses of the word. He braced himself and leapt at it…

The Minotaur roared as it came under the barrage of fire from the Spirit Changers but not of pain but of anger. As they attacked they would find no blood only further dark, compact matter that seemed to be protecting whatever internal workings the Minotaur held. As Mandan leapt at the creature, it felt as he began to phase through its leg and it stumbled backwards suddenly as if afraid of letting the Spirit Changer see inside its body. It's sharp movement sent it spiralling out of control, it had lost it's balance and it wobbled for a second before slowly tilting and then slamming down, it's back meeting the wall of Enylia with a great thud as the walls cracked but did not fall. Sam rolled away from the beast as it collapsed backwards and looked around but the dust that had been brought up was clouding his vision too much. He saw Donna barking a set of instructions to the group and she whizzed past, planting a kiss upon his neck before whispering "We're all going to aim directly for the neck. Give it all you've got." She would proceed to communicate the message to all the others in sight before she skidded to a stop, the dust clearing. As the minotaur began to pick itself up Sam called on his powers and several of the walls from nearby buildings began to shake and then collapsed, several chunks of brick smashing into the legs of the minotaur, ensuring it was not getting up for the time being. "GO!" Donna yelled and then let loose with everything she had. As the barrage hit a single point, the mass of black flesh began to clear until a large red stream lay exposed like molten magma made solid. "We need someone to reach that... thing! It looks like that could be its power source!" Donna glanced around her... Mandan could do this, his phasing power would allow him to pass straight through the group's projectiles. Where was the boy?

Mandan hissed in pain as his attempt to phase through the bull creature ended prematurely as the thing jerked away from him, landing hard on his stomach. The drain on his energy was still substantial…he couldn't use this a lot, especially not with his lack of eating or energy in general. His head had felt…wrong…while in the thing. Cold, unpleasant…he didn't want to repeat that…nor was he sure he could…groaning as he forced himself to his feet, staggering a bit, he glared over at the now fallen monster. One of the girls he didn't recognize yelled that they were going to attack the neck now, which was all fine and good, but he couldn't exactly be of use in direct combat. He hung back for a bit as the others went to work so as to not take valuable space around it from someone more capable, looking for something he could do…an opening in the black slowly came to light…an unhealthy red gleam met his gaze…and the same girl as before yelled something about it possibly being a power source, needing someone to reach it. …He could do that. It looked…malevolent…incredibly so…he didn't know what it would do to him if he went through it…would he get trapped inside? Would it drain his life? It…was possible that going into that would kill him. He'd need to phase through all the crap everyone else was shooting at the bull thing too…he might expire before even reaching it. But…he needed to. If he didn't…someone might die. He already had Leo's death on his conscience…he didn't think he could have another one on top of it…it would destroy him. That decided, the dark boy hurried up to where the girl giving orders was. "Going," he muttered before taking off, activating his power as he did so.

Oh…oh gods…this hurt…this hurt so much…the sheer act of needing to let earth, water, air, weaponry, talons, fangs…everything pass through him…Mandan could feel his body start to shut down. He kept going though, teeth bared under his veil…he would get to the bull thing…he would…he would accomplish one thing of value before he died…as he passed Sera in wolf form, his eyes briefly reflected sorrow…he didn't think he was coming back from this…he'd be leaving her alone. He wanted to pause, to explain his reasoning, but to stop was to die having done nothing. Keep going…ahhh…keep…going…the dark boy managed to make it to the bull thing's neck…up close the exposed red section was terrifying…his resolve wavered…it was going to kill him before he had a chance to do anything, wasn't it? No…he would prevent another death…he had to. He was tired…so tired…another blast of something passed through him, and he staggered. He had to go…now…Mandan attempted to jump, but more or less fell into the red stuff, his energy all but gone. Hopefully…he could…do something…

The thing was wrong. That was what the two halves of Seraphim’s brain screamed as she ripped and worried its flesh with the powerful jaws of the Dire wolf. But there was no blood! Where was the blood? She should be drowning in the stuff by now, her prey...No! The monster should be dead by now; lying in a pool of its own blood. But it wasn’t. The creature lived and its hand had clamped itself about the wolf’s scruff and hurled it to the ground no doubt intending to end the pest only to be bombarded by yet more attacks by the other Spirit Changers causing it to recoil into the city walls.
Shaking her head in an attempt to clear her collective minds Sera clambered back onto her feet and began to advance on the beast once again; snarling angrily as she went no longer certain where her anger began and wolf’s ended. The thing was wrong. It smelt wrong, tasted wrong, a thing that angry and that evil should not exist and both her and the wolf agreed that it needed to be destroyed, cleansed from this earth and sent back to whatever fell place that had spawned it.
It was just as she was about to break into a run and launch herself at it again that she was overtaken by a black form phasing towards it Mandan!? Oh gods no! Mandan what are you doing you can’t leave me here! She screamed with the wolfs head, forgetting that she was no longer in human form. Though even if she had been it would have made little difference as the boy was already too far into his attack to stop, all she could do was wait and see what happened next.

As Mandan plunged towards the beast, there was a voice, as clear as day. "The last of my present strength... my gift to you, so that you may defeat this foul monstrosity and cleanse the land of its evil..." Energy flooded through Mandan's body, his aches and pains vanishing in mere seconds as suddenly he found a reserve previously unknown to him. "This is the ability of those who have passed in their journey. Determined strength. It is linked to the force of your will and, in your most dire situations it will give you the energy you need to fight on. I pray that you may not need it again..." With that, the presence retreated, leaving Mandan as he whirled down towards the creature. his body becoming close to that of a blade as he began to spin and the blades exiting phase for just a split second as they sliced through the red stream, the monster yelling out in agony as the teenager dropped to the floor. It was as if the monster caught fire, smoke rapidly billowed up from it but if this was fire then it was certainly a flash fire. In the space of around 5 seconds the monster entirely disappeared until Mandan was left staring at wisps of smoke as he landed on the ground. As the others rushed up he would see lying a few metres away from him a red crystal lying on the ground, it appeared that none of the others had noticed it, for now at least.

As the creature toppled toward the wall, Kulos stopped hacking what are you doing?, sheathed her swords keep attacking, and leapt free. Or tried to, at least. She'd miscalculated how big the thing was shift, shift!, height was so much more difficult to figure out from the air shift!. Regardless, she didn't have much time or space left you lost your chance! and called upon her power need more time to- Pain and exhaustion swept through her shouldn't have tried to save that boy as she failed to gain any more time to get her landing please don't break anything right. Thankfully, reflexes turned the hard, jarring fall into a hard, jarring tumble that knocked the wind out of her and left her dazed and confused on the ground for a while take the time to calm down, you were too worked up before. When she managed to find enough strength stop it with the crawling, just stay still and recover to start moving towards the rest of the group, she noticed the minotaur was gone you missed your chance, a boy was lying near where it had fallen with a red crystal, and that everyone else seemed to be okay you can make sure later. Including especially Donna. Check done, Kulos allowed herself to collapse, spent, but not quite unconscious yet. Maybe Donna would find her, but if not... she'd be okay that's right, just take it easy after a little rest.

The beast screamed in agony as it burst into flames that rapidly consumed its body; leaving only Mandan laying there in a pile of ashes. The moment she caught sight of him Seraphim was on her way to him only stopping when she remembered that she was still in the form of a rather large wolf.
Hurriedly shifting back to human form the first thing that Sera became aware of was that her tunic was completely undone exposing her under garments and her hair almost certainly would look like she'd been dragged through a hedge; but it didn't matter, her brother needed her, she had to see if he was alright. However she'd only taken a couple of steps towards him when the vile taste of rotten meat filled her mouth causing her to remember what the last thing she'd eaten had been.
Clutching her stomach she drops to her knees and proceeds to be sick; vomiting up the hunks of raw flesh she’d torn from the Minotaur’s throat onto the ground along with everything else she'd eaten that day.
With tears streaming down her face she would eventually roll onto her side with her stomach feeling like it was filled with writhing serpents. Oh great I've poisoned myself! She thought to herself; cursing the Dire wolf that had decided eating the raw flesh of creature spawned by Demon changers was a good idea. Though when she thought about it, it wasn't the wolf that was suffering the consequences. All she could do now was hope that it would pass now that it was out of her system or that one of the other Spirit Changers around her was a water caste...they'd be able to help her, right?

Mandan woke slowly, groaning as his hands found his aching head…he'd hit it, hard…that much was apparent. What had happened? Was the creature dead? Had he been able to do something helpful? He wasn't sure…though the apparent lack of bellowing told him that at the very least the fight had moved elsewhere. He was alive too, that was surprising…and while he was tired, he wasn't feeling anywhere near as drained as he'd expected to. Odd. Blearily opening his eyes, the dark boy saw a red crystal in front of him…if he had to guess, this was part of the monster…he needed to destroy it, but he wasn't sure he could manage that just yet, so he instead reached into his pocket. Slipping one of his gloves back on, he grabbed the crystal and shoved it into his pocket before returning the garment to the same pocket, careful to never let it touch his skin. With this done, he started paying more attention to his surroundings…the group was in a disorganized mess, people scattered about…well, they weren't fighting, odds are that meant they'd killed the behemoth…excellent. He just hoped he'd done something of value. Mandan slowly got to his feet, wincing a little as he did so, before looking around for Sera. He found her next to a circle of vomit, in a half state of undress, clutching her stomach. He hurried over to her, dropping into a crouch upon reaching her. "Relax…you've just been sick, you won't do yourself any favors by panicking…here…" As gently and carefully as he could, he fixed as much of her tunic as he could, taking great care to not actually touch her. "Calm…you're ok. Promise." The dark boy would remain by her as she recovered, there for her if she needed something as he wondered what exactly had happened that the monster was gone, and how he should destroy the crystal in his pocket.

Lecta solemnly sat cross-legged atop his vantage point surveying the remains of the battlefield below him. He had his two swords laid horizontally across his legs, ready to use should they for some reason find themselves under attack once again. That was far from an ideal scenario however... In truth, he felt exhausted, and a lengthy sleep of over twelve hours would likely be the only thing capable of curing that tiredness. Still, he was able to stand, and maybe...wield his swords for a short while, but that was about it. However, as he watched Sera, Seamus, Mandan and the rest of the Spirit Changers sit around, or be sick, in Sera's case, the overwhelming feeling that Lecta felt gripping him was regret... He had fulfilled his role in the battle. In the end, his signal hadn't really been necessary, as the Minotaur had followed the other two into the city regardless. However, when the attack proper had begun, he had played his part by shooting water projectiles at the creature in an attempt to harm it, and if not that, then at least unbalance it. Sadly though, his efforts had been mostly for naught, as the creature's hide had been too strong to pierce, and perhaps unbalancing the creature with his projectiles had been too far-fetched an idea in itself. At one point during the drawn-out fight, a team of Spirit Changers had cleaved a hole in the Minotaur's neck, and had exposed some sort of red light, though getting to that light would have proven to be a challenge for anyone. Fortunately though, Mandan had been able to make use of what seemed to be his special ability to "disappear"...through the Minotaur's hide...and somehow end its life. Thus, the battle had been drawn to a close with the creature catching fire and being obliterated in the space of a few seconds.

A few of the Spirit Changers appeared to be injured below, and once again he wished that he had the capability to heal people. A wish was all that was though, so unless someone asked him to - and fortunately no one had yet - he would stay where he was, recuperating... What made him uncomfortable was the fact that not only were Donna and Kulos around, but Sera, Mandan and Sam were now here too, which meant that there were five people who hated his guts, and would likely prefer to see him bleed to death than be present in the group's midst... His regret came as a consequence of his argument with Sera. Though he still believed that he hadn't been wrong in what he had said, he wished that the argument had not taken place at all. All it had left behind in its wake was anger, mistrust and dislike - three things that he did not need on his conscience. What their next step would be he did not know. With so many Spirit Changers in one place, there might be a chance of their doing something...useful collaboratively, but he would need to wait and see what would happen there. For the moment, Lecta would sit where he was, not making an effort to communicate with anyone unless they came to him, whilst staring down at the cross-guard of his arming sword.

"Thank you Mandan you’re too good to me… I must look a right state" Sera spoke miserably as her brother came to her aid; buttoning up her tunic as he calmly spoke to her in a soothing voice "oh Mandan I don't feel too good...not good at all" she continued, slowly moving one hand away from her tender stomach to take his hand. She still felt incredibly sick, her stomach was churning she felt nauseous, cold and shivery though those last two can't have been helped by her running around with her tunic open, oh gods her tunic had been open so that the entire world could see her underclothes!
If she hadn't been feeling sorry for herself already then she definitely was now, with two damp patches appearing on the strip of white cloth she wore about her useless eyes as she continued to silently cry "I am not sure I am cut out for this Mandan...I mean you managed to kill that thing all by yourself! Where as all I managed was to poison myself and then botch my shifting so that the whole world could see my underwear...oh gods...it wasn't too bad was it?" she finished in a pleading voice knowing that she was seconds away from shifting into a mouse and hiding somewhere small and dark where nobody could laugh at her...or at least she would if she hadn't been feeling so damn ill!
Eventually the shivering and the nausea would subside enough so that with her brother’s help she was able to pull herself into a sitting position beside him though she still felt far from ok “Why do you stick around with me Mandan? All I seem to do is stumble from one disaster to another…you must think that I am a right nuisance”

Sera said she must look awful and that she didn't feel good. "You just fought a monster. Anyone who looks pristine after that didn't help. You helped. Be proud of that." Mandan replied in fairly short sentences, trying to balance being encouraging and not talking. Her grabbing his hand was frustratingly distracting though…why did she insist on doing that? The answer was fairly obvious, though…it was a manner of comforting herself…and he'd put up with it, despite the mild panic that happened every time. She started crying though, which the dark boy really wasn't sure how to handle…he could guess that embracing her would help, but…no…he couldn't do that…she was still laying down, for one…that was his excuse for now, anyway. His sister then began to say she didn't think she was cut out for this, though she decided to make a bad joke about him killing the monster himself. "That's not funny…I didn't kill it alone. You all did most of the work, I fell on it. Couldn't have killed it, was phasing through. Knocked out. Hope it didn't like the phasing…made it easier for you all to kill." He hesitated a bit on her question if her undressed state had been bad. "No one else saw I think. You were lying down, facing away. It got fixed fairly quickly, I think you're fine."

It was at this point that Sera asked Mandan why he bothered staying around her as she had him help her into a sitting position. He cocked his head at her, though he knew she couldn't see the motion. "We agreed to be siblings. Siblings don't care if the other is having a weak moment or is strong. They support regardless, without hesitation. You're my sister now. Means I'm going to support you no matter what. You've done the same for me…I'm not the most successful person either. Together, we've managed to work through our failures." The dark boy was silent long enough it seemed evident he was done talking. Then, in a very, very quiet voice, he added. "Don't think I'd've made it to the fight, if not for you. Or anywhere." He seemed unwilling to elaborate, instead shifting his position so his knees were drawn to his nose, arm not connected to Sera's wrapped around his legs. He hoped that she'd get the implication…if not, he wasn't about to say anything more on the subject. He'd honestly started regretting having said anything in the first place...

DeletedUser28032

“No Mandan, all we did was make it angry...you’re the one who killed it” Seraphim firmly stated as her brother seeming to have no idea what it was he’d actually accomplished went on to deny having any kind of involvement in the creatures death “...I saw you do it, you phased through it and then it just burst into flames...the thing was dead within seconds after that, trust me I am your baby sister and wouldn’t lie to you” she said letting go of his hand so that she could lean over and give him a hug. She knew he wasn’t particularly fond of physical contact but Sera decided to hug him anyway knowing that if he was to ever come out of his shell that she was going to have to help him. That and unlike Mandan she rather liked physical contact especially when she was feeling sad or unwell and she couldn’t really think of any other way showing how much she appreciated his kind words. Feeling the boy stiffening within her arms Sera couldn’t help but giggle as she squeezed him even tighter in response “oh Mandan don’t cringe so much, I am your baby sister, I love you, and I am doing this for the benefit of your future wife...so either hug me back or I am going to lift your veil and give you a kiss” she jokingly threatened. Not that she actually would kiss him, as that was perhaps a step too far and she didn’t want cause him any distress...just to help him, and besides which he was her brother and kissing him would be just wrong.
Deciding not to push her luck too far she would release him from her embrace after a few minutes and go back to simply sitting next to him “Is everyone else ok? I mean I take it nobody’s seriously hurt right?” she asked with a slight note of concern in her voice. She couldn’t hear any screaming or shouts for help but without her eyesight she couldn’t know for sure...they could all be dead for all she knew.

(OOC: Come the morning I might just do a time-skip to finding the cave in the desert if that's all right with people. Irulia's gone on long enough and it'd be nice to get it wrapped up).
Mandan
As he spoke with Sera the crystal weighed heavily in his pocket and on his mind. It called out to him, like a siren song, pleading for him to reach into his pocket and grasp the crystal with a gloveless hand. Its pull was so strong that Mandan's hand began to subconsciously move towards the pocket with the crystal inside but, every time it did so, he'd become aware of the movement, two forces at war in his heart, one for the crystal and one against. It's song was alluring... so alluring. All he had to do was reach... out... and touch it. Just the smooth, cold feel against his skin. That was all he needed... Reach out Mandan... Take the crystal in your hand. The voice was silky soft and smooth, singing out to him as a mother would to her infant. It wanted the boy to take a hold of the crystal, yet within a certain distance the voice would vanish and Mandan return to his senses.

The Group
As the minotaur dissipated the group allowed themselves a short celebration of victory. One of the group stepped forward. "We've got enough supplies to last two weeks, even with everyone here, so long as we ration. We know where the Ultimate One should be so if we stay within the walls for the night, we can set off and find him." Sam moved over to where Lecta was standing and looked between him and Mandan and Sera. "I think it'd be best if you stayed clear of Sera and Mandan for now Lecta... It's nice to see you guys though. I guess we'll be coming with you now." With a friendly pat on the shoulder he moved over to Sera and Mandan. "It looks like we'll be staying here for the night. Good thing too because it's nearly nightfall. I was going to ask you guys... but it seems we're pretty close to finding the Ultimate One now. Do you want to go with the others from here or shall we split? I'm sure they'd be willing to give us some supplies if we asked. Either way we should probably sleep on it." One of the other Spirit changers had started a small fire using scraps of rubble wood and a tinderbox and the majority of the group was camped around it in various stages of undress. The night was bracing but not too cold and the area around them was devoid of life and sounds save for that of the wind rustling through the ruins of the town, an ashen covered wasteland that it would take years to rebuild.

Lecta was disturbed out of his pensive silence by the appearance of Sam beside him. The boy began to speak to him, and Lecta gave him a blank look in response. The boy had apparently taken it upon himself to hand out advice to him. The advice in question contained one of the most obvious sentiments that was present at the time, at least for Lecta. "Thank you for the advice, Sam..." was all that Lecta was able to say in an exhausted voice before the other boy moved away. Sighing, Lecta pushed himself up from his sitting position. He made his way off of his vantage point, taking care to avoid being noticed by either Sera or Mandan, and soon had arrived at Seamus' location. A quick tap on the shoulder was followed by a hushed whisper. "I won't stay with the main group tonight, for fear of Sera or Mandan, or someone else who dislikes me, finding me. I feel like I am in danger here... I'll be a street away, probably in some abandoned house..." This said, Lecta turned to go. A thought stopped him though, causing him to turn back again. "I apologise for being a nuisance to you, Seamus. If you wanted to talk about what's happened, then now would be a good time, wouldn't it?" Through Lecta's tone, Seamus would be able to ascertain that he had meant every word of his apology, though what it pertained to was perhaps a matter up for debate... This said, Lecta silently disappeared behind a nearby building, before finding himself a conveniently sheltered spot to spend the night. Should Seamus decide to follow him in order to speak, he would sit up to talk. Should the other boy decide against it, he would attempt to fall asleep, though with other Spirit Changers about that might like to see him dead, sleep did not come easily to him at all...

It had done something, maybe. It was kind of hard to tell whether his specific actions had done something, due to the many attacks that had been assailing the beast, but perhaps he had done something, and that new scream of pain was a result of Seamus's attack. Of course, none of that seemed to matter due to the thing suddenly exploding into a fine red mist that wasn't vapourized blood, but the results of some strange combustion caused by some unknown source. What had caused the combustion death? It shouldn't matter, but there was the possibility that it was a different enemy that didn't want any competition in killing all humans present. Maybe it was that boy that was nearby. As Seamus got closer, it appeared that the boy looked like Mandan, but that shouldn't be possible. It must be possible because he was right there. Seamus began to walk over to the boy, but he managed to get up on his own, and proceeded to walk over to a girl standing by a pool of vomit who looked exactly like Sera. Oh, Sera must be here as well, and that meant that Sam was here also. It seemed like they were both ok, yes both ok, and there were others to attend to. Seamus went around and helped out with healing the injured and sickened people. Not everything was perfect, but with another couple of sessions, the worst injuries would be healed, or that was how it was supposed to work. But this was the first time Seamus had played batlefield medic in the real world and he wasn't certain what results he would get. Eventually, the night fell, and Seamus was at a campfire, allowing himself to become part of the group. Somehow, Lecta had found him, and it seemed like he was inviting Seamus to talk with him without actually saying so. As Lecta walked off, Seamus thought about it. He did need someone to talk to, but it seemed like Lecta also needed someone to talk to. He was sure that the reveal of Sera and Lecta and probably Sam was as big an issue to Lecta as it was to Seamus, or even more so. Maybe he should go find the others in that original group and make amends with them. Or maybe just sit here and slowly fall asleep. No, he should try and get the group back together. Safety in numbers and all that. The best person to talk to would be Sam. That would be the place to start to get them all together again. With resolve set, Seamus slowly got up with a groan, and wandered around the campfires, hoping to find that boy alone so he could talk without threat of death from Sera.

Running her fingers through her long silvery blonde hair, Seraphim listened with mild interest to the celebrations going on around her as she sat beside her brother Mandan who had seemingly lapsed into a thoughtful silence. Having been around him long enough to realise that this was nothing out of the ordinary and that he’d probably just said more to her in the past few minutes than he had in the past few years, not to mention all that physical contact he’d just endured, she simply sat beside him and left him to it.
It was in this state that Sam would find them; asking the pair whether or not they would be joining the rest of the group in search of the Ultimate One now that they were so close, or splitting off again “No…my temper tantrum has already caused enough trouble, we’ll tag along with the others if they’ll have us” Sera replied with a sigh. She didn’t really want to meet the Ultimate One as this quest to find her had already cost Sera and Mandan so much and she doubted that whether meeting her was truly worth the cost or that she’d be able to keep her temper when she did find her. However it would seem that destiny had other plans as no matter what she did she always ended up back on course for this encounter. In short; why fight it?
Using her stave to help her, Seraphim cautiously got up onto her feet; gritting her teeth against the wave of dizzying sickness that assaulted her as she did so “Come on Mandan lets go and sit by the fire, we’d best go and make friends” she said in a weary voice once the nausea had abated a little.
Using the fire’s warmth as a guide Sera slowly started walking towards it only stopping when she felt the unmistakable feeling of someone’s fingers beneath the toe of her boot “Oh gods! I’m so sorry! I didn’t know you were there, are you alright?” she said in a startled voice as she hurriedly moved away from whoever it was she’d trodden on and almost falling over herself in the process. So much for making friends, she’d only been with this new group for a few minutes and she’d already injured one of them; just like the same old, stupid, clumsy Seraphim she’d always been.

The rest of the world had ceased to matter for a moment…the crystal that Mandan had retrieved was calling out to him, begging for him to touch it. He needed to destroy it…he needed to…he wasn't going to let a single other thing inside his head…the 'Ultimate' One had barged in and nearly undone him completely…he wasn't about to let that happen again. He was going to do so as soon as he could, but for the moment anyway he didn't want to leave Sera alone. Sam approached and asked if they were going to stick with the group and go to the 'Ultimate' One…Sera said yes, that there didn't seem to be any point in fighting it, which more or less sealed his own fate…he'd tag along because she was going, but he'd be dead before he actually met the thing. It had nearly broken him…no way in hell was he going to give it another chance. He remembered something about it being in a cave. Let the others meet it. He'd stand outside.

Sera mentioned going to the fire to try to make friends…this would delay his ability to get rid of the crystal, but he could help her there and then pop out for a moment, destroy it, and come back. They hadn't gone far, however, when the girl almost fell over another whom Mandan didn't recognize, apologizing in the process. He stopped and watched impassively, hoping an altercation didn't start…he really didn't want to have to fight another person…

Kulos floated for a while in the dark. It was actually kind of nice, just to lay there without the aches and pains that were an inevitable part of fighting. Though to be honest, she didn't quite remember why she might have been fighting. Some sort of... training exercise maybe? Something about having to work together with a lot of people, some sort of big target... or was it some kind of monster? She didn't really know. The idea wouldn't leave her alone, though. An image of something huge and black, hacking at it with her swords... the ground from a long way up... And suddenly she was jolted awake, the world coming into focus on a pretty blonde girl and a veiled boy, both of whom looked oddly familiar. Her fingers burned, which was odd, but they weren't much more painful than the various aches and pains throughout her body. Especially her head, the last time she'd felt like this was the morning after her first bottle of wine, stolen, of course. She came back to herself in a dark little closet, clothes sweaty and gross. The moment she'd opened the door, pain lanced through her eyes and she screamed so loudly that the teachers came running. Come to think about it, that was the first time she'd ended up in serious trouble. Everything before that had been... she focused back on the scene at hand as the girl stumbled back, apologizing, and the boy watched impassively.

"Wha..." she tried to talk, but her mouth was dry and dusty. Kulos swallowed and tried again. "Wha's... going on? Where's... Donna?" She looked around, though moving her neck hurt. "Donna? Do you two..." Memories started filling into the spaces that had been blank. "You two are Spirit Changers? S... Seraphim, right? And... I don't think I ever learned your name." She hoped the boy wasn't mad that she didn't know his name. Truthfully the only reason she'd learned the girl's was that she was really pretty, though not quite her type. Too tall, too innocent. "Where's... Donna?" Kulos sat up, which was hard and hurt, then tried to stand. Which ended up being more like a herculean effort to make it to her feet only to have the world heave itself up and dump her back on her rear. That hurt more. "Could you give me a hand?" she asked, hating that she couldn't just go dashing off on her own. It was her only way of finding Donna, though, she wasn't going to turn the help down if she had a choice.

Half expecting to have a barrage of verbal abuse thrown at her Seraphim was relieved when the girl started speaking to her sounding far more confused over what was going on than angry about her fingers being stepped on.
By the way that the girl said her name it was clear that she knew her but Seraphim was struggling to place the voice even though it sounded oh so familiar which made not knowing who she was even worse.
With the girl asking for them to help her up, having already fallen down once by the sound of things; Sera gave Mandan a gentle nudge signalling that he should do the gentlemanly thing and help her back onto her feet. Once he'd done that Sera then carefully placed a fumbling arm about her waist in way of support allowing Mandan to let go of her if he so desired "I don't really know where...Donna?...is, though maybe she's over by the fire...oh hey! It’s Kulos, right?" Sera suddenly piped up when she finally managed to pin the girl’s voice to a name and a face with the girl’s personality arriving moments later much to Sera’s horror "Oh gods! Kulos! Please no jokes Ku, I...I can't see it wouldn't be fair!" Sera suddenly said in a panicked voice as she realised that she was arm in arm with the girl that had pulled more than a few practical jokes on her over the years. In fact hadn't she been one of the girls that had locked her into that cellar? Or...had she been one of the people that had found her down there three hours later? She couldn't really remember...all she really knew for sure was that she'd been terrified of the dark ever since “Please Ku, I just want to go and sit by the fire for a little while” she quietly pleaded hoping that she wouldn't take advantage of the situation and trip her up or anything…though it would be the perfect end to day like today.
