Mandan was shook out of his irritation with the others when someone plowed into him, nearly knocking him over. He turned, even more irate than before, only to see that it was Sera who was backing away from him, looking about to cry as she stammered an apology. He took a single deep breath, and the flash of negative emotion faded. He made a placating gesture, not really wanting to speak at the moment. He wanted his first words with the group to be when they were truly necessary, as they'd likely carry more power then. He looked Sera in the eyes, sending a clear message that he bore her no ill will for the incident. He'd learned to be good at sending these nonverbal signals, as they were the only option not involving some kind of wordplay. He simply hoped that the girl understood the message, else he'd be forced to resort to words.
