Health care plan

How the health care plan works in your country. Is it free? The government pay a full health care to you?

What do you think about the health in your country?

(don't forget to say from where you from)

There is no such thing as "free" health care. And governments don't pay for anything. The people pay the government who allocates the money the people give them.

I live in the US and the system generally sucks. The pharmaceutical companies are out of control, the insurance companies gouge the public as much as they can and, in the end, the quality of care isn't all that great compared to other countries. It is one of the most expensive systems in the world...yet, the mortality rate among Americans isn't all that wonderful...

People in my country hear horror stories about how long it takes to see a specialist in Canada. I really wonder whether those Americans who complain about the Canadian system have tried to see a specialist in the US... Over this past summer, my family has needed to see three different specialists over conditions that were serious, but not immediately life-threatening. Things like giardia (long story).

We were give appointments that were several months out in each and every case...

I just don't see how our overly-expensive system is that much better than the Canadian system or other "socialized medicine" systems.

Here is a great video that sums up a lot of my views...

Well there are 2 kinds of hospitals here. The public(Named SUS) and the particular. In the public you need luck to not die on the tier. The medics are good but the government don't help very much, so there is a big lack of suplys, so if you don't have a health care plan here, you are screw. The particular is away better, good doctors and nurse and everyrthing you need. But you need to have a health care plan or pay. The only problem is that the health care plans need to authorize the treatments before they start. I almost died on the last year due a serious health problem and my health care plan was "stunding" my case before aprove, after I clinical state got worse they aproved. I think I was very unluck, I heard from some people that it doesn't occur with all health care plans.

Being prior US military and have socialized medicine. I can tell you I miss it. I don't like to have to pay a premium. When you get to thinking about it we would pay about the same in taxes to have it but all Americans would have health care. We could then do away with Medicare because everyone would have Gov. health care, and if you wanted you could still pay for privet insurance so you could go to a privet Doctor if you so wish.

Oh just wanted to say that the horror stories are used to scare the mass into thinking that socialized health care would be the end of the westernized world.

Lets put it this way the benefits out weigh the costs even though the British NHS is far from perfect....but if the benefits out weigh the costs in saving lifes then I believe in it

health care is not free..tax payers pay for it..smokers booze and all that.
yet they never have enough beds(coz the doctors are using them:)

but i think its a good thing,
few years back there was a huge legal case in south africa.
the free clinics would have become bankrupt due to the price of HIV drugs,
huge legal battle,,blah blah..and they won
now they can get the generic from india,,half the cost and works just as good.

my problems with the health system is there are far too many non doctors pulling the strings
and too many (should not be) doctors pocketing the money.
and its a war zone down here...you would rather go to a free clinic than a private.
many reasond i cannot mention on this forum.
