Capture the Flag!!
Introduction:
Capture the flag, or otherwise known as CTF, is a traditional game where two or more teams have a flag or any type of marker, the objective being you need to capture the other team's flag or marker and bring it back to your own home base. While there are many variations and different rules to this game, the Chinese are bringing to you their very own unique version!
Overview:
CTF requires a playing field equally divided into separate areas depending on how many teams are participating in the event. This playing field we all know as the world map, divided into 15 counties. The four corner counties will be assigned to each of the participating teams which will be known as their home base. Each of the counties except for the center county will have a station built which is neutral territory to everyone until such time it has been claimed by a team. Each team is assigned a specific color - red, blue, green and yellow.
Objective:
The main objective in this game is your team getting the highest overall score of all teams playing. This can be achieved two separate ways:
- Flag hunting: Requires players to move along a designated path, visiting stations to capture (Colored Bandannas) to bring back to their home base for points.
- County war: Another part of the game involves duelling Chinese players to gain territory or capture the county, each county and duel is worth points.
How to play:
There are no limits as to how many players can be involved, be this individual players, towns or even an alliance participating as a team. Effective for smaller individual events or if you want to take on your rival alliance. However, we will adjust numbers to equal the playing field. The duration of an event is dependent on how many players are participating. Each event will only start a week after being announced due to preparations that need to take place.
Firstly, if you want to participate in the CTF you will need to contact support by sending in a support ticket. In this ticket, you will need to state a few details. Are you participating alone or in a team? If in a team, please list the exact player names of your team members. Are you able to participate in the event for a minimum of a week? Smaller events may be quicker while larger events may exceed a week. Understand that this event is designed for avid West players that spend many hours online.
Once entry to the event closes, all players will be evaluated and placed into teams. To make sure that each team is equal in strength, some players may not be assigned to the team they initially wanted. All participants will be removed from their current towns and placed in their homebase towns for the duration of the event, and moved back to their original towns once the event closes. While this is a duelling event, all participants will not have KO protection active on their accounts. If you are KOed in a duel, the moment you remove yourself from a hotel, you are eligible to be duelled.
The event will then start! It is up to your team to strategise which team member would be doing what in the event. To be successful and win the event, you need to work together. Which leads me back to a more detailed description on the type of tasks you can engage in.
A Flag hunter is a player assigned the task to start on a path that all teams will start on, at separate locations and move in a clockwise rotation while visiting each station. At each station, colored bandannas will be available on the market for flag hunters to purchase, these represent your potential points you could bring to your team. For instance, the first station for any team is located in the same county as your homebase, this will be your starting point. Once you have reached your first station you can purchase the bandanna (Colored according to your team color), these bandannas cost a Quarter each, you will need to place a Quarter on that market too. You are then presented with two options, you can either take the bandanna back to your home base to bank your points or you can continue on the path to the next station and grab another bandanna. The further away the station you collect a bandanna from, the more points the bandanna is worth. But remember, you can be duelled at any time along your journey, if you are KOed, you lose any points from the bandannas you've collected - you are transported back to your home base and placed in the hotel. Once you have cancelled the sleep, you start at the first station again. Please note that your bandannas can be stolen by enemy players, but points are deducted from teams that purchase the wrong color bandannas.
County Wars, which will intrigue duellers, involves you duelling a Chinese GM assigned to each station in each county. These Chinese GM players will be skilled as a normal dueller wielding normal duelling weapons. Unlike with the previous duelling event, it will be a lot easier for an average dueller to beat them. The main objective is to duel and beat a Chinese GM player enough times so that they are wearing all the same color clothing as your team, in essence claiming the station which claims the county. Each time a Chinese GM player loses a duel, they will place an item of clothing representing the same color as your team. However, if another team duels and wins that duel, an item of clothing will change to that team's color. Once a team has claimed a county, the county can be used as a homebase to bank flags from the flag hunters. A good strategy here would be to try and claim counties furthest from you, yet they are closer to your enemies, if achieved, you can easily bank and accumulate more points from each bandanna. Chinese players will act as a regular player, they won't move from their location, however, they will sleep at certain times.
Each team will need to assign a team leader who will be responsible for score updating on their internal home base town forum. The team leader will be responsible for purchasing all the collected bandannas, once purchased off the home base town market, can the bandanna be converted to town points.
Miscellaneous players within a team or not (Players not involved in the event) can choose to go on a duelling spree and target flag hunters. If a flag hunter is KOed, he loses the current points he is carrying. There will also be a group of Chinese players, not skilled for proper duelling, that will interfere with each team, be this duelling, purchasing bandannas etc... KOing one of these players will bring points to your team plus be removed from the event altogether. Please be aware, this is for the Chinese duelling group not stationed in each county participating in the county wars.
