Getting 3.key for locked out quest

I found out I can get the 3.key by doing either Grave Robbing or Working as a Traveling Merchant. What I am not sure of; should I spam click/15 seconds or do 10 min or hours?

I do not have or ever owned it.

If I posted this in the wrong area, please feel free to move it to the correct area.

Thank you very much. I have just over 1700. I may have to wait to do that quest for a while. But I can keep trying things happen.
