Jokir was fine with walking through the night, he'd swiftly discovered that as an Arina, he needed little sleep to sustain himself, instead he could drain energy (very slowly) from the shadows, enough to sustain himself for a relatively long period of time (so long as he wasn't required to do anything major) and this meant that he could easily keep going throughout the night. He didn't like the rain as much though, but he could deal with it. Eventually they arrived at a crossroads, with the only sign being to Cecia, which Kaiden immediately suggested going down. "I must admit I have no knowledge of the area, if any of you do then I shall, for once, follow your advice, but unless you have any other plans, I say that Cecia is as good a destination as any." This was one thing about their 'journey' that Jokir did not like, he was deeply outside his territory, facing an uncertain enemy where his skills may be worth little to nothing, these were certainly not ideal conditions for the assassin.

The Forest Camp

Gemina listened with a bemused expression set upon her face as Iatairris first protested against Gemina's call for the fighting to cease, and then began to blabber senselessly about how she would knock the supposed enemies out, and... Iatairris went on, meanwhile Arkadi showed his obvious frustration at the interruption, and began to run his hands through his hair, something that Gemina would have thought twice about doing if it were her own hair that was in question. Giving the man an uncertain smile, she placed a comforting hand on Wallace's shoulder to emphasize that she was pleased with how he had reacted to the sudden offensive. Giving Arkadi an uncertain smile, she turned her head sharply at the sound of Mezonas' deflection of a rock, which Iatairris had apparently thrown in his direction... "Irris, calm yourself!" She shouted in an almost motherly tone, as Mezonas walked away silently through the trees, coming to a stop before that one which Whisper had embedded herself in. His face set in a kind expression, he unsummoned his weapon and placed both his hands on the tree's trunk. Quietly, he began to sing to the tree in a starnge language, attempting to convince the tree that he was a friend of the one whom had trapped herself there temporarily... The sound of his voice rose and fell over time, lilting across the forest.

Smiling at the noise, Gemina walked over to Iatairris, and taking one of her hands in hers, led her to where they had previously been sleeping, and guided her to sit down. "You have been brave Irris. Your courage shines from you as a lit beacon. Return to your slumber. We will discuss the events of tonight in the morning...

After a while, both Jokir (who had been absolutely silent through the night) and Kaiden decided to take the route to Cecia Town, their ancestral home (at least Akana’s [until two centuries ago, she could provide the documented evidence] she didn’t know about the other two). Up until they had seen this sign, they were both ready and willing to go to Grelin and confront the other guardians, fellows of the man they had defeated and killed. Now, seeing a sign of the ruins of their ancestral homes, Kaiden and Jokir were jumping at the opportunity to visit that place. She didn’t know what stories they had been raised on, but Akana was told that Cecia was destroyed and no longer inhabited. That old man Mezonas had said that Cecia was now inhabited by demons (him and his demon haunted world), which most likely didn’t exist. However, perhaps this route would be easiest to determine whether Mezonas was correct or not. If he wasn’t, they could all abandon this quest and go back to avoiding slipping in the shower. “Ok, we go towards the Town of Cecia. We prove the story of Mezonas to be wrong.”

Wait..what? Something was different. Something was happening, but it was different than the last time, oh so long ago. What was the tree trying to tell her? Whisper was groggy with sleep, but it seemed important. She started to return to sleep, but the vibrating got stronger. Something...no someone was in front of her. It was difficult for her to see, there was a veil in front of her. No, not a veil, a film. And the film was moving. Who was that? The tree couldn't speak to her directly. Or rather, she couldn't understand the words. Her eyes got tired trying to see through the veil. It was milky thick. She closed them again, and started to drift off. The vibration got stronger yet, and it's insistence was disturbing. She tried to focus, and the image she saw was familiar. It was Mezonas. He was here, and she smiled. That was enough for the tree to know that this was not a foe, and commenced to release her from it's protection. She did not wake as refreshed as she did the first time, as she had only been in it's protection for less than an hour. Additionally, she had a major headache, as she had been forced to look through the sap of the giant tree. As her body temperature came back to normal, and she was free, she fell into the waiting arms of Mezonas. All she could think of to say was "hi Mezonas, have you been here long?"

Gemina called out for Iatairris to calm down as she threw the rock. "But…but…" the young girl attempted to put into words why she KNEW this was a bad idea, but her mind, having been stressed from the instant she'd been woken up, couldn't get anything put together. Gemina came then, and told her that she'd done well, something about courage being a beak or some such. She then told her to go back to sleep, that they'd discuss the events in the morning. "We're safe? Oh, good…" with the danger gone, her body reminded her that she had indeed been sleeping soundly a few minutes before, and that she desperately needed it, especially now that her adrenaline stores had been consumed. "Ok…I don't understand but I'm sure that it'll make senssssssszzzzz…" the exhausted girl fell back, having fallen asleep mid-sentence, a bemused expression still on her snoozing face.

"And if it isn't wrong?" Kaiden asked Red, raising a single eyebrow questioningly. They had all set out on this quest in order to prove Mezona's wrong; that an army wasn't on the march and that if one did exist then it was nothing more than a wandering brigand and not that of a demon's but none of them had really considered what to do if he proved to be right and that Cecia town really did exist and was in fact ruled by a rogue Arina and an army of demons.
Waiting long enough to hear whatever response Red had to offer, Kaiden turns and starts to head down the road towards Cecia. If nothing else it would be nice to see the ruins of their supposed homeland, however should Mezona's stories prove true then they could formulate a plan of action. The guardian's could wait; they had no idea that someone was tracking them and so a detour wouldn't cause any harm in the long run "Well if you two are happy to keep going then I say we keep walking its not like we could build a fire in this weather anyway" and without a fire it would prove to be a very wet and miserable night indeed.

The Three Travellers

The road to Cecia was almost entirely overgrown. As the rain continued to pour, it became clear that many that came to the crossroads did indeed heed the warning given by the sign. Though it was overgrown, it would be plain to the three travellers that this way would once have been used greatly due to the sporadic cobbles than popped up occasionally underfoot, in the dark times after the apparent 'fall' of Cecia, when those that had fled still maintained hope of a return to their homes, and as such kept a close watch on proceedings in the forbidden town. In the early days following Yeltzoa's invasion, the western edge of the forest had been the area chosen to be the new territory of the town folk, but the evidence showed no signs of any settlements in the area, nor that any had ever chosen to live here... Nature, it seemed, had hidden away the past underneath roots, branches and tall grass...or perhaps something else had caused the abandonment of the place...?

Due to the vast amounts of vegetation present, the going was slow for the trio, and it was as the path began to become almost impassable that they suddenly emerged from the tangle into a field. It would have been a fairly typical field, if not for its unusual placement on a rise. Trees sprawled in every single direction from the clearing, as far as the eye could see in some cases... What also would have been immediately noticeable was the stone tower that now stood half collapsed in the centre, and even more prominent spread across the entire area of the grass were small, black crosses. The tower itself stood as a symbol of hope to the free folk, but the black crosses gave the air a heavy feel, and a feeling of death permeated the area... Almost as if they were being watched...

Worries aside though, the pouring rain had slowly given way to a clear sky, and far to the west, the sun now rose, and under its shadow, an irregular shape slowly exposed itself to their eyes... Only one explanation would suffice. Quite plainly, they now looked upon Cecia Town...

Mezonas

Mezonas stepped backwards, startled as Whisper tumbled forwards out of the tree, though he did manage to catch the woman as she emerged from her shelter. He laughed softly as the initiate's question. "Perhaps... You seem to have quite the knack for binding yourself into trunks, eh?" Her moved one foot backward slightly, so as to remain upright, before continuing, "Is this a regular habit of yours?" He continued to hold Whisper in place, waiting for her to regain her own sense of balance. At that point her would release her from his grasp.

Gemina

The chestnut-haired woman laughed again, before whispering happily to Iatairris, "Sleep well young one." With her piece said, she turned around and paced a few steps away to where she had previously been lying, before sitting down and addressing the two other men. "Come. You two should sleep. As I said to Irris, we will discuss matters tomorrow morn..." Settling herself down, Gemina let herself drift into a deep slumber.

Arya

"...and what exactly do you intend to do about it?" Arya listened gloomily from her wooden chair inside the large chamber, a bored expression set upon her face. She would occasionally glance at her new...friend across the room from her, who would return her glance with an expression of his own. Since the events of a few nights previous, the matter had occupied her thoughts every moment of the day. She had been unable to sleep soundly, it pressed upon her mind so much... And the fact that he had caught her in the act only made matters more difficult. She didn't have much time in which to act. Many lives depended upon her actions, and if she didn't do something, then it was likely that no one would. Closing her eyes tight shut, she envisioned for the tenth time that day what would have occurred if it had been the Duke that had caught her in her...act... It was time to do something. Of that she was certain, and now was a better time than ever. Opening her eyes, she glanced around briefly, before standing upright and moving to the centre of the room. Curtsying to the Duke, she excused herself with muttered words, before walking outside, curious expressions following her footsteps, not least those of him...

Very shortly after taking the path to Cecia, Akana found the going much harder. The path suddenly became nearly overgrown; the only thing preventing the trail from becoming part of the surrounding forest was the occasional cobblestone to guide the way, ancient breadcrumbs the last remnant of a society in possession of great engineering skills. If Akana was alone, she would have gone up into the trees, and headed in the general direction of Cecia, but she wasn’t alone, and the others couldn’t fly above the treetops at all; their progress was still very slow and as a consequence, so was Akana’s. And though her ankle still hurt, thanks to that bakadiyu of Kaiden. Still, it wasn’t so bad. Akana could deal with the pain and boredom and slowness and rain. She actually liked the rain. It was soothing.

They continued to walk for many more hours, the sky lightening slightly, indicating the sun rise. Didn’t make much difference down here beneath the rain clouds and the forest. Akana knew not when they would get to see the town of Cecia, though she hoped it was soon. She was anxious to explore the ruins of her ancestor’s home, and learn a bit of how they lived, what scientific advances they had created and left behind. Eventually, the group came to a large field filled with black crosses and a ruined tower in the centre. This must be a graveyard; some cultures buried their dead instead of cremating them. Perhaps Cecia practiced this, or maybe it was an early post Cecia culture that survived in this area a while longer.

As the group stood at the edge of this clearing, the rain slowly stopped and was replaced with sunlight. This increased visible distance, and revealed an odd shape towards the horizon. After a moment of observing it, Akana believed that to be Cecia Town proper. She was the first Ni Dair citizen to view their ancestral home in approximately 700 years. It was an interesting feeling of excitement and sorrow. Unfortunately, she could not share this view with anyone else in her home. They were all dead and the village itself probably beginning to decay into the surroundings. Still, it was only right to explore this place for them, and the first stop was that tower. “Let us this tower explore,” Akana told the others as she walked toward it. She wanted to explore it fully, and that meant climbing from the bottom, instead of jumping straight to the top of it. And though the slight feeling of being observed hung over her, Akana dismissed it to feelings commonly associated with any graveyard and most likely fabricated by the mind.

Whisper regained her balance quickly, and Mezonas' grip on her relaxed, then withdrew. "My thanks for catching me Mezonas, I think I am alright now." Her headache was fading, and soon there was no outward evidence at all of her recent experience. "No, not a regular habit at all" she addressed the man's questions. "In fact, this is only the second time that it has occurred. I haven't seen many people in my part of the forest, so I have had no need of protection, except the first time..of course."

Whisper heard Gemina address others, and turned to see that Arkadi had also joined them. And, she was urging them back to sleep. "Perhaps in the morning you could explain what all just happened, I am a bit confused Mezonas. Did you come to help save us from our atackers? How did you know we were in trouble? And where did the attackers go? Anyway, my head still hurts, and I think I will get a bit more rest now. I am still not thinking very clearly." Whisper climbed back into her tree, got comfortable, and was soon sound asleep.

The three travellers spent most of the night moving along the weed choked path; even with Kaiden encouraging the plant life to move out of their way it was still slow going. A cobblestone bounces across the path and into the overgrown ditch as Kaiden's foot catches it whilst trying to avoid a particularly nasty patch of gorse, reminding the ranger that once an elder race of immortal's had traversed this road many centuries ago, a race that he and his fellow travellers were descendants if Mezonas was to be believed. He was still sceptical on this point after all after five centuries of believing the Arina to be gods and Cecia to be their kingdom it was hard to accept that such a race had actually existed let alone that he was a part of it.
Finally breaking through the undergrowth and into a clearing he gazes across the field of grave markers at the tower before them; a relic of a bygone age and one that Red was keen to explore though Kaiden was somewhat reluctant to move in amongst the headstones. Something felt very wrong about them almost as if they were being watched by some unseen force or perhaps even the dead themselves.
Dismissing his fears as being only foolish superstitions he take the first few steps into the field when he stops. The rain had slowed to almost a standstill and the sky had cleared sufficiently to reveal the shadowy shape of a city, not just any city though but Cecia.
Dropping down onto one knee Kaiden scrapes a fil of dirt into his right hand before placing it to his lips; a votive gesture he hadn't made in centuries as he kissed the sacred ground he was about to walk. Rising back onto his feet he gives his companions a half apologetic look before simply replying "old habits die hard" before moving to follow Red towards the tower and whatever lay within.

Mezonas

As Whisper talked rapidly, Mezonas nodded at her short explanation of this being only the second occurrence of her binding herself into a tree. Other than causing the binder to collapse forwards upon release, the temporary imprisonment didn't seem to carry any lasting adverse effects... Following the younger woman's request, he responded, "Of course. I'll explain what occurred tomorrow morn. Then...everything will make more sense." He waited beside the tree until she climbed up into it again, before walking back towards the camp, casting a quick smile in the direction of the two others that still stood awake, before giving a worried glance toward the sleeping Gemina, and striding away into the night.

The Three Travellers

Made entirely of stone, the square tower that lay before them rose fifty feet into the air. At its base lay a small doorway, in front of which lay what remained of the door that had previously occupied the space. Inside, a stone staircase spiraled its way up the walls to a wooden floor, in which was embedded a trapdoor, which still held. Occasionally, a step was seen to be missing from the stairway, but the majority of the stone slabs held intact, though how stable they might be was unknown. The floor of the ground level was also stone, although it was now covered in green, a testament to the small plants that had pushed their way up between the cracks over the decades and centuries. The room was otherwise empty, except for a doorway leading to a small room on the northern edge of the tower.

Surprisingly enough, inside the small room, there lay a table and a chair, along with a bed. It was sparsely furnished, but enough so that someone could live there, and it was clear that someone certainly was living there, as the room was mostly devoid of dust. Whoever was living there though, was currently absent. But for how long that would be was unknown... Inside the tower, it became clearer that a strange force permeated the area. It had been faint outside, but inside it was stronger. If any of the Arína attempted to use any abilities, or even summon their weapons, they would find themselves unable to...

The Following Morning

Yawning, Gemina stretched her arms, before lifting herself to her feet, and bouncing on her toes, testing her balance after a night on the hard ground. Looking up, she saw Mezonas waiting for her. "Good morning Father." Mezonas nodded in return, before looking around solemnly at the initiates. "We have much to do today..."

Striding to the river that lay just beyond the edge of the camp, Gemina washed herself thoroughly, waiting long enough to gaze at her reflection in the water. This journey will change me... That done, she walked back to the camp and made a loud birdlike noise, the intention of which was clearly to wake everyone up. Now, she would wait for them to arise, before stating the task of the day...

Jokir struggled through the forest, cursing the lack of manoeuvrability as well as the anxiety of being surrounded by dense forest, ripe for an ambush. They made it to the edge, however, to spot a tower off in the distance which was still on the way to Cecia, but lay between them and the town. The other two decided to make their way towards it, Kaiden kissing the dirt in some form of ritual before they set off. Jokir said to Kaiden "I'll vanish when we go inside, make sure that it's safe." as they approached the tower. Once inside the tower, Jokir attempted to meld into the shadows, and finding he could not, he panicked slightly attempting to draw his knife, for what little protection it offered. "Something's muting our powers!" he hissed to the others as he raised his fists, he had spent the last twenty something years teaching himself martial arts as snapping someone's neck was often an easier option than aiming for their throat (which you and I decided was the weak-point if I remember correctly Apel), so he had some combat experience in case they should be set upon. "I don't like this, I say we get out of here and get back on the path to Grelin! This detour has been interesting but it's getting too dangerous!" He hissed this to the group as well, not wanting to be overheard if there was another person present elsewhere in the building.

As usual, Whisper was awake with sunrise. She had already been down to the river for a sunrise swim, and was back perched in her tree again, her hair almost dry. She watched Gemina go down to the river, and return. She was rather surprised to hear the bird sound come from the woman, but was game for it. Whisper took in a deep breath, and perfectly imitated the call. She grinned as she knew there was certainly no bird in this forest that made that call. But, it mattered not. It was the challenge for Whisper....hear a sound, and imitate it.

She jumped down, and walked over to the old fire, sat crossed legged. "Morning everyone! Do we have time for me to go catch us some breakfast? Or, are we starting early?"

This building, somewhere in the place, the source of that strange feeling would be found. At first Akana had brushed it off to just being in a graveyard; those primitive places did have that sort of effect on humans. But now that she had entered the building, the feeling had increased and reached a crescendo as she entered the centre of the room. It was a very curious room indeed, with a clean bed and study setup. Evidence indicated that it was regularly used; the owner had probably last left no more than a couple of days ago. The way to the top of the tower was also mostly intact and clean. That wooden trapdoor seemed to have been replaced no more than 100 years ago. It was strange.

As Jokir entered behind Kaiden, he mentioned remaining in the shadows, to guard against sneaks or something. Akana wasn’t paying attention, having decided to inspect the furnishings up close. She suddenly began to pay attention when Jokir announced that their powers didn’t do in this building, his voice conveying his rising panic. To verify for herself, Akana attempted to jump to the trapdoor. She barely managed a hop; the winds would not obey her this time. An attempt to summon her sword brought about the same result. Her first thought was to wonder if she would begin to age at the same rate normal humans did. But as Joikr practically pleaded to leave this place and head for Grelin, Akana got a different idea. “I would like to stay. I will this place to investigate. I go upstairs. Will you follow?” Akana headed up the spiral staircase, drawing the throwing knife she had retrieved from the post in Tretana. When she arrived at the trapdoor, she pushed up so that it barely opened, and allowed just enough space for her eyes to look through the door and see what was beyond.

DeletedUser28032

The tower was ancient yet despite its age it was clear to Kaiden even before he saw the small neatly furnished backroom that somebody had been living within the structure as there was a clear trail within the dust on the floor between the two doors. Hearing Jokir's panicked cries that his power wouldn't work and that wanted to leave Kaiden quickly attempted to manipulate the weeds growing within to no avail before then discovering that his quiver full of arrows had now reverted back into twigs and his bow was completely lacking its cord "I'll follow Red, I am interested to discover the source of this power" he replied drawing a long bladed boning knife from its sheath located near the small of his back "...Jokir keep watch, you'll just have to hide in the shadows like the rest of us do" he called to the assassin before following Red up the twisting stone steps. Upon reaching the trapdoor at its top; another indicator that somebody was still living here as the wood didn't look anywhere near as old as the rest of the structure, Kaiden quietly waited as Red cautiously lifted the door in order to peer inside, the ranger shifting his grip on the knife ready to strike at a moments notice.

Gemina

Gemina smiled, amused as Whisper perfectly imitated her birdlike call. "A perfect imitation Whisper. It sounds as if you've had practise..." Gemina watched passively as the younger woman went to sit by the fire, asking if there was time for her to catch them some breakfast before they departed. Considering the question for a few seconds, Gemina summoned her scythe and twirled it in front of her, finishing by planting it into the ground in front of her, the resounding crack signalling that it had hit rock. "I thought that it would be nice, before we continued with our true journey, for us to take all of you to visit the lake town, Finadil. It's the only other large town that existed when Cecia was at its full might... It's a very pretty place, right next to the lake named after the same name. The northern mountains sit nearby to it as well..." Turning back to face Whisper and any others that might be awake, she asked, "So, how would you like to visit there? We might be able to procure some supplies for the longer journey that will confront us afterwards as well..." Pulling her scythe out from the place that she'd planted it, Gemina unsummoned it and gave the still-sleeping Iatairris a stern look. "As for your question Whisper, go and catch your fish, but be quick... I'm not sure how long it will take to wake Irris up..."

The Three Travellers

The trapdoor squeaked open noisily as Akana lifted it open. It wasn't overly heavy, but held enough weight that a young child would be unable to lift its weight. The floor of the upper room was bare, though like the lower room, it too was bare of dust, indicating once again that this place most certainly had an inhabitant, or perhaps even multiple inhabitants...? The entire perimeter of the room had a shoulder-high space between the wall and the roof, permitting a view of the surrounding area, including a view of Cecia on a clear day. The remnants of the stratus clouds that had been pouring their contents down upon the trio just ten minutes earlier could be seen to the south, in which direction the forest continued uninterrupted. From the centre of the cone roof of the tower hung from metal chains a bowl filled to the brim with a strange black liquid that didn't look particularly suitable to drink... Otherwise, the room was empty of adornment.

---

Having stayed at the bottom of the tower, it would have been to Jokir's surprise when he encountered a tall women garbed in a plain green dress standing at the entrance to the tower, gazing at him intently. She looked to be middle-aged, with midnight black hair tied up into a bun on top of her head. Her green eyes and kind-looking face expressed innocence, though where this was some kind of trick was not clear. She appeared to be weaponless, and so posed no evident threat to the group. After a few seconds of staring at the young man that she beheld before her, she spluttered, "W...w...who are you, and why are you standing in my dwelling?"

DeletedUser13682

The trapdoor was now open just enough for Akana to look around most of the room. She saw no living thing, but there might still be someone behind the door. Akana grabbed the ledge, and shoved the door open all the way, while propelling herself up; the net force from her hand turning her around. The door slammed open and Akana’s enemy was revealed. The enemy, empty space, stared at Akana. Akana stared back for a moment, before looking down at Kaiden. “There is here nothing,” she informed before taking a look around. The place was well kept, free of dust and other such dirtying particulate. However, unlike downstairs, there were no furnishings, nearly nothing save a strange bowl hanging from chains. The roof was supported by a few posts, the rest left open to atmosphere (perhaps the current inhabitant knew not how to make glass). It did offer a spectacular view of the area, including what appeared to be a town in the distance. If only Akana had a lens to magnify that view.

Akana turned away from that view and surveyed the room again. There was nothing new here; nothing but wooden floors, stone walls, and that bowl in the centre. Akana walked over to it, and inspected the contents. Contained within was some sort of black liquid, appearing very similar to an alcohol that one village proudly produced. This particular brew however seemed thicker, almost ichorlike. Was it truly liquid, though? Akana touched the liquid with her knife’s tip. It behaved like a normal liquid, not like that ngesitashi that could be walked on if your feet were quick, and sunk into like water if you stopped for a second. Akana concluded that it couldn’t be helped. She would have to try this brew. She took her knife, allowed some liquid to collect on it, and used the tip to direct a few drops into her mouth.

As the trapdoor was flung open with a loud bang Kaiden burst into the room after Red; knife poised ready to strike only to find himself stood within an empty room. A quick glance around told him that this was or at least had been a watchtower of some sort, no doubt built to warn Cecia of attack back in the days when the city had been inhabited. The design was reminiscent of those built within the borderlands; large windows offering an unhindered view of the surrounding countryside along with a brazier within its centre to act as a warning light. Although admittedly nothing within the borderlands was as grand as this, the towers he was used to were simple things built from wood and thatch and the brazier was simply a wooden pyre as opposed to the bowl of quick lighting oil that hung from the ceiling here.
It was just as these thoughts were entering his head that he noticed Red dipping her knife within the bowl, had he realised what she was about to do he’d have told her to stop instead he simply waited for the inevitable retching before holding out his water bottle; trying his best to suppress a grin as he did so “Taste nice?” he asked trying his best to sound innocent and failing miserably.

DeletedUser31931

Jokir kept guard, glancing up as the two burst through the trapdoor. As it slammed shut and they vanished from view he looked back down to see a woman staring at him, she had appeared out of nowhere and he jumped back slightly in surprise, going to summon his weapon and cursing out loud when he remembered that it wasn't there. As he pulled his hands up in a defensive stance she spoke, and as he realised that there wasn't any immediate danger he relaxed slightly but remained coiled. "My name is Jokir though it is not mine from birth, I am here..." Jokir paused slightly, wondering if it was a good idea to tell her about the others before deciding it was better to be honest with her, "with two others who went upstairs. We were headed to Grelin but took a detour to see Cecia town and came to investigate your home along the way. Might I ask your name?" Despite the politeness of his tone, he was slightly firm and he was still in his defensive stance, ready for any punch or attack she might throw at him.

"Finadil sounds like a wonderful place, Gemina. It sounds like the place that was in the square image on the wall in the hall of your home....Let's go there!" Whisper said as she picked up her fishing rod, and headed off to the river to get fish for breakfast. She needed to hurry as there were quite a few that might want some. She cast out the line, and sat on a big rock that was on the shore. As it was barely dawn, the fish were hungry, and soon she had five nice sized trout, and one catfish. She cleaned them up, and rinsed them off, and headed back to camp. She was happy to see the the fire still had a few embers, and threw a few dry twigs, and then a couple of branches, to get the fire going well again. Slicing the fish in half lengthwise, and then skewering the halves, she gently laid the long branch over the rocks she had placed on either side.

Unfortunately, the kudzu leaves were all withered at this point, so she looked for alternatives to place the cooked fish on. Glancing about, she didn't find anything suitable, so she reached into her seed bag, and found a pumpkin seed. She got a bit of dirt from the ground, placed the seed in the middle of it, and closed her eyes. Her staff appeared and she touched it to her hand. Instantly, the leaves of the vine started to grow. Whisper didn't need the pumpkins... just their large leaves. She placed the vine on the ground, and watched it continue to grow. She plucked a few of the larger leaves and had them ready. It was not long at all before the air was filled with the aroma of freshly cooked fish. When they were done, she wrapped them in the large pumpkin leaves, to keep them warm, and easier to handle. The meat was so tender, it didn't need a knife. "Breakfast is served!" Whisper exclaimed.
