Entries: A new world is on the horizon!

You wrote the following, take another look at it please, "we don't want to try to enjoy a broken game". Is it broke? Really? Some members in world 1 didn't think their world was.

worlds != game.

World1 was the first love, nobody wanted it shut down. It's like loving someone in spite of their many flaws. The players loved the nostalgia, the chars that used to play, it gave them warm fuzzies. I'm sure if you asked them, they'd take ver1 and 5000 chars over what it was during the recent years.

The game as a whole is broken. The core, the fundamentals. The inside is rotting and they keep us distracted by non-stop events and click-click tasks. The game used to be well-thought out decisions, a long slow build of your char over time. In other words, it was a challenge. The game now is just pay to get the best gear, level it up, and not have to think about anything.

Another world opens, another three will drift off into barren wastelands.

Although we aren't always in character in game, somehow, Las Vegas manages to destroy my suspension of disbelief. It was not part of the Old West, and when you think of Las Vegas, you picture casinos, hotels, live shows, gambling, the Mafia, and lights in the town that never sleeps. You don't think of the old west. There were so many better choices. :(

Yes thats what most thinks now a days, but it actually was named in 1826 according to wiki :)

The name Las Vegas was given to the city in 1829 by Rafael Rivera, a member of the Spanish explorer Antonio Armijo trading party that was traveling to Los Angeles, and stopped for water there on the Old Spanish Trail from New Mexico. At that time, several parts of the valley contained artesian wells surrounded by extensive green areas; Las Vegas means "the meadows" in Spanish. The flows from the wells fed the Las Vegas Wash, which runs to the Colorado River.

Uh, just to be clear, in my post I never once bashed Inno. I did say what I thought of the name and why. I fully understand, as you said, that it was the players who chose the name. I blame them for this. Not Inno. And, if you play on Idaho, you would see on the world forum that I wondered if some people even remembered the genre of the game they are playing. It's a game about the old West, not a game set in a modern day gambling/entertainment metropolis.

I am clarifying my earlier post. Not whining. Just stating my opinion and expressing disappointment in the player base who voted for that world name.
I wrote, "some people bash INNO on a regular basis on the forum" I did not mean you Reyne. Sorry, if the sentence gave that impression. I am in complete agreement with what you wrote. Las Vegas was suggested many times on the forum as a pun from some members who think the game is now trash ruined by INNO. I agree with you "it is what you make it" even if the game is not perfect. The other consolation prize is that vegas did exist in the 1800's = meadow. @mnnielsen I get this feeling it wasn't really a city but a watering hole with a few shacks around. That's the west in the 1800's. lol

I wish youall wouldn't think I disagree entirely nor appreciate the nostalgia you write about Roland. It gives the west game some dignity and invites.

The west game has evolved over time? I would like to see worlds maintained, for example. If someone could on a regular basis buy up ghost towns call them Henry Walkers Corporation or something so to get them off the map. Depending on world size one or two ghosts towns is enough? It wouldn't do much except help with the aesthetics. Even if older worlds play with less people, not as good maybe but they can still be alive and enjoyable? Also I would like to see things in town stores have great value. Should there be less drops in jobs? I would like to see crafting items become the most valuable thing a cowpoke could acquire. Perhaps the game will never return to its former self but it can be still enjoyed now? I would like to read more on the forum from newer players. There excitement and interest can bring fresh air into a stale room even if they are still learning the game, learning new things can be enjoyable too.

Yes, too many global economy inflating events can cause havoc however they are being offered for valid reasons and I doubt very much if that will change now regardless of what anyone writes on this forum. Maybe it is ironic but real 1800's western life changed too and sometimes in just a few very turbulent years. However "the fuzzies" as you described was passed on from one generation to the next. I know this for certain because I had a real cowboy in my life. Anyway, this is only an online game but still lets not let it take us down? ...You can take the man out of the country but you can't take the country out of the man?

the word you're looking for is devolved.
devolve - pass into (a different state, especially a worse one); degenerate.

can it still be enjoyed? of course, that's why we're here.
can we enjoy it like we used to? nope, that's why we're writing all these things in the forum.
can it be returned to it's former glory with just a little effort? yes! that's the main reason for frustration with how the game is managed.

The year is 2016 and INNO games has had a fantastic successful year with 68% growth!
So in 2018 the company building now houses a family of 420. That's not bad for game company. Wow!

The year was 1861 no actually it was 2003 when Tribal Wars was introduced then came The West in 2008. The year now is 2021

In 1865 the American civil ended. The glory days was released in 1984, thanks Bruce.

The year is now 2021 onto other things.

_____________________________________________

The point? I fear the glory days are gone. Although I hate to crush your optimism for the future the past is in the past. Can the present be improved on (managed) cheerfully? Yes, certainly it can. When it comes to writing stuff onto the forum a little encouragement goes a long way. Right?

I've decided to cross the old Spanish trail on my orse to "luss vea-ga"

yes, exactly. it is only myself, a lone voice, no support from anyone, nobody else wants anything similar. millions of people are joining this game on a daily basis to be able to play the tombola simulator and then collect products for crafting, but I am constantly contradicting them, asking for a few small tweaks in the PvP part of the game. me and only me.

but even if you would be right - please explain, if I ask Innogames to do a few small tweaks that would re-balance fort fighting and make fort fighters active again, how exactly does that hurt you and why are you so much against these requests? how does it hurt you when we ask that some of the things that brought this game multiple titles of "the browser game of the year" be restored? how much less would you enjoy this game if there were daily battles, changes to duel formulas, more maps in adventures and similar?

all in all, if I ask for a tweak that would make this game more enjoyable for me, and it has no impact on you - where exactly is the problem?

Soo Will Las Vegas have poker It was supposed to be introduced as another multi - player aspect of the game. It may have even been an old feature that used to be part of the game.
And the west did have entertainment and gambling They had poker games and brothels and Shakespeare plays as well as other stuff.

Sounds like that those things would be fun! If any of it was a old feature any idea why they were dropped?

Not sure what that first paragraph is saying but I'll try to explain.

Dear Mr Hendrik Klindworth,

Another member is having a problem and

asking for this, this and also that. Could you please see that someone looks after that?

Thank you
Cheers Alice

Okay, all done now. You can now play the game and enjoy it more.

Your welcome Pankreas Porfavor.

yes, it was an old feature, and it was removed because Innogames decided not to work on The West anymore.
sounds like fun? yeah, it was. please tell people who ask to get it back to stop complaining instead of supporting this idea. what were you thinking?!

Not sure what that first paragraph is saying

not the first thing you couldn't understand :(

Dear Mr Hendrik Klindworth,

Your welcome

reading this probably killed a few of my brain cells, I can only imagine what it was like to write it.

I would ask you again - why react with "Sounds like that those things would be fun!" when someone asks for poker to come back, but "stop complaining and forget about the past!" when someone asks for PvP features to be fixed/restored, but it's pointless.
you would like to play poker, but don't care for fort battles? and you blame me for being self-centered (or should I say "enjoy it like I want to")...
you obviously won't reply to this sort of questions, and I currently have no intention to waste more of my time on this.
until next time I see you write something so obviously untrue ("TW is run in exactly the same way as FOE" - thanks for the laugh!), please don't starve!

https://wiki.the-west.net/wiki/Poker < there is still a in game wiki for it. The Post that mentioned bringing it to the game ( about a year ago almost That is why I also said that it might have been part of the secret project) actually mentioned the wiki as well.
I like your cheerful suggestion. Thanks for the link. Not only would it be a good pass time and maybe a stress killer I think it would add to the game dynamics. Sure fort battles can be fun though I had difficulty with them when I first started playing. The GUI I found somewhat unfinished, adventures seemed cute but for one reason or another I didn't try it out. I like the aspect of playing at any given time without having to schedule a time. Poker certainly sounds like a western activity and a way to make a living. LOL

Read the fine print at the bottom. I think they had to remove it so they wouldn't open themselves up to some kind of weird lawsuit. Or maybe it was just bugged and didn't want to spend the resources to fix it.

Ok soo my original wording was wrong I asked if Las Vegas would have poker When I should say ------
Lets bring back Poker to the game . I think there could be many players who might think this is fun. I havent played very long and it sounds like a great idea to me . It certainly applies to the old west as a Western game based on the old west should. The thing is even though a New world opened today I have players on my world talking about quitting the game all together because they are bored. Several quit just this last week. We need more than just a new world and a race to get 300 nuggets from a contest . We need new life in the game. I feel adding this feature would help tremendously to help keep interest of long term players as well as maybe even attract new players. Maybe even make the game award winning again. Perhaps a Poll should be started ? If numbers of players vote for it.... ? maybe it could be a possibility ? Seems the groundwork is already there it already at one time was a part of the game.

They could even do it like they did for the survey for the new world name on the log in .
by the way I didnt vote Las Vegas as the name but since that name was chosen it partially inspired this topic.

Blurred lines these days tbh.

Of course, LV didn't spring up overnight. I know it has history, though I did not know the history of the town's beginnings. :) And yes, I know there was gambling in the "Old West," too, along with access to other vices.

I was only expressing my own opinion, be it dismayed and perplexed. As Kidd Calypso is found of saying, your mileage may vary. The vote was fair, and "Las Vegas" won fair and square, so now that I've stated said opinion, I will bow out of the conversation and wish the new world well. To do less is counterproductive and futile.

;-) I totally agree with that. I can easily understand why it has been chosen, but to be honest, this name was not my first choice. But in our process we tried to 1. take all the names suggested here, and then through selection processes throughout the team to narrow it down to the table you could choose from in the game.
