Crafting

What did you choose? Or you didn't choose yet?

I am doubting and eager to hear peoples choices and why they did it.

I play four worlds each on a different class. So each player I chose a different crafting profession to check each of them.

Only once I have a few recipes will I most likely figure out my favourite one.

There is not "the best" crafting profession.
Remember that not all recipes are added to the game, so a profession that seems bad can turn into a very good one soon.
A suggestion - take a profession noone else from your town took. You'll get their items via market and sell them your ones. Also those crafted items you can sell at the market for some nice cash. In a way, the rarest profession taken is currently the best one.

Ill agree with Joxer.

All the products crafting can make, are sell-able on the market.
They will all be available on the market at some point, so the profession the fewest people choose, will be the most valuable on the market.

Keep in mind that crafting requires products. Those products will be in "High Demand".
If you chose a crafting profession few others did, you will both have the advantage of selling those products for a high price due to high demand, and the advantage of buying products for your profession that is in less demand for a lower price.

I may be doing something wrong but with regards to using crafting:

1) The crafting box has no minimise button. It is open, or shut.
2) If you have it open and get new products, it doesn't update, you have to close then open it
3) Opening it entails clicking on character then craft (2 clicks instead of one).

point 2 is almost irrelevant if point 3 was addressed and there was a crafting button. Point one is just a bit of a pain in the rear.

Seems to me at the moment its just easier to do cash jobs and buy stuff than itll be to work for the products or items..

Think ill wait for a few weeks and just see what the best thing is on my main worlds and goof off on the rest

It's better to anticipate. Currently, the items have pretty high demand, but few people offer them. The amount of offers will increase over time, which will result in a price decrease.

Oh how I hated economics.... Little did I know I could apply this to online gaming later in my life. ;)

I choose blacksmith but i realy dont know why :)

Quite frankly, I think most will.

The usefulness of the different classes pretty much boils down to nugget spender, or non nugget spender.
The different craftmanships is pretty much a substitute for nuggets, with a few exceptions. I think the variety of the classes will vary allot more on non prem worlds.

Here is my conclusion. You can all make up your own minds about this.

Field cook
The Field cook is able to cook a delicious meal from almost anything he finds in the wilderness, giving you power for the whole day.
(Skill Point & Labour Point Booster, for the times you really need to be able to do that special job or quest.)
Conclusion: Not completely useless, but not far from it..

Tonic Peddler
The charlatan experiments with everything he has and sells the outcome as potions and other tonics.
(Work & Dueling Motivation, Health & Energy Boost)
Conclusion: Great for those that can't wait 4 hours for full health and energy, or thinks this will enable them to work the same job 24/7. HP potions WILL be on high demand, so here is a chance to make some money.

Blacksmith
The Blacksmith specialises(<-typo by Inno) in working metal to form usable items and improve tools and weapons.
(Bonus to damage in fort battles & duels)
Conclusion: Might just be enough to give you an advantage. A worthwhile profession, with items that will sell on the market.

Master Saddler
The Master saddler is an expert in leather and wood work. The products of his profession help you to minimise the strenuosity of travelling and make life generally more comfortable.
(Mainly about traveling speed, with some boosts to work motivation & energy.)
Conclusion: A pretty boring class. Most use nuggets for fast speed anyhow, and if you want to increase your work motivation, pick the Tonic Peddler Class.

How did you come to that conclusion?
Crafting doesnt requiere nuggets.

I'm glad with I picked tonic peddler on World 1 and Blacksmith on World 3. I love medicine on this game so I went with tonic peddler. Man its been a long time since I last got here if it wasn't for the update.

I personally think some of the drop percentages should be increased for the lower level crafting items. Example: only a 10% drop rate for a jug doing well drilling? Really? It's ok to make higher level crafting items tougher to get.

You have other options and not only 1 item per level. Pick easier one to craft instead.

So far it seems cool. Only complaint I really have is that tools are consumable. You shouldn't need to get a new hammer every time you start a new job, for example. In real life craftsman don't buy new tools for every project. They use the same tools over and over. Tools should be required but shouldn't disappear once you make something.

But that could just be me.

I'm a saddlemaker. Haven't done much so far, but seems like it should be alright. One rather idiotic feature I've discovered though: the purchase price of the individual ingredient required to craft a canteen is higher than the purchase price of the canteen!! (And I'm guessing this rule applies to a lot if not most of crafting products). This is annoying - why should I spend time crafting something something when I could have sold the original ingredients of it for more than that thing? Yeah, the thing crafted has benefits over and above the raw items, but still...
