can you fight in a fort fight that your town is not a part of?

I was just wondering this. If you can, then what do you need to do to be part of it?

You go to fort overview and look in the battles section. Click on the fort battle you want to participate in then click the walk symbol in the bottom right corner of the fort and click walk. Once you are their then select you position and target.

You should probably first contact the leader of the town that owns the fort if you want to help defend or the leader of the attacking town if you want to help attack.

Often, players will join a fort battle and then find themselves booted from the roster. If you want to make sure that doesn't happen, you need to let the leader know what your fort skills are, that you are going to be online during the battle and are willing to follow battle direction.
