I think it was intended as a none ranked koes however they do count towards the KO count.
A message "Knocked out mysterious xxx"(don't remember what it was) happens whenever you ko one.
If you tie at 35-35, the KO count is not in the best interest of those who wants to win.(the koes of barrels don't count towards a win)
Achievement wise, you can get "knockout in 3 consecutive rounds", but not the "5 stone knock outs".
