In the tradition, an ornamental pickle is placed on a Christmas tree as one of the Christmas decorations. On Christmas morning, the first person to find the pickle on the tree would receive an extra present from Santa Claus or would be said to have a year of good fortune

I think you are talking about the pickle ornament that hangs on the Christmas tree in some German and Polish traditions. It could be more widespread European but German and Polish is my heritage where I learned this. A pickle ornament is hidden in the tree and supposedly the child who finds it on Christmas morning receives an extra gift from Sants.

pickled cucumbers are a good source for probiotics and is used for preventing bad bacteria from growing in the food. They are high in beta-carotene which the body turns into vitamin A. In tradition, an ornamental pickle is placed on the tree as a decoration. On Christmas morning, the first person o find the pickle would get an extra present from Santa or be blessed with good luck for a year.

Because in the American tradition, a pickled cucumber is hidden in the Christmas tree, and on Christmas morning a treasure hunt begins; the first who find the pickled cucumber will get an extra gift.

Answer: “Find the pickle”– a pickle-shaped ornament hidden somewhere on the Xmas tree, with the person who finds it getting an extra present– is a common American Christmas tradition.
But, though it’s mistakenly believed to be an old German tradition, nobody seems to know how the Christmas Pickle tradition started.
One myth involves a Civil War soldier of Bavarian origin who’d been imprisoned by the enemy: He begged the guard for one last pickle before he died, and it gave him the will to carry on.
Another myth involves St. Nicholas rescuing two boys from a pickle barrel. But the truth is that the legend was most likely started by retailers selling glass ornaments imported from Germany.
The town of Berrien Springs, Michigan holds a pickle festival every year in December.
