August SOTM!

Well, my first SOTM seems to be pretty successful so far! I'll admit, there were a few bumps in the road, a couple mistakes on my part, but well, I'm still new to this! :)

SO! To give you all a bit of a teasing head start, to show that I will not be deterred by my rookie mistakes, it's time for me to get you all excited for August!

This competition will be opening on the FIRST of August.

(Must thank Gem for the following, copy and paste makes it a lot easier)

The competition
Create a signature! We'll have set a theme for you to take your inspiration from. If all rules are adhered to your entry will be put to a community vote. The signature with the most votes wins! Users will be encouraged to vote for the execution of the signature, the visual appeal, the colors, and the concept. This competition will be spoiled if you get your friends to vote for you, so please discourage them from doing so!​
The Prize
First place: 200 Nuggets
Second place: 100 Nuggets
Third place: 50 Nuggets

The Rules
  • Your signature must be no larger then 700 pixels wide by 120 pixels high.
  • Your signature must be your own work (It may have stock images/renders, but not already edited images).
  • It must be specifically for this competition.
  • It must have your user-name on it where we can read it.
  • Your signature must be of high quality, for example it must not be an image with added text.
    (We will be analyzing each signature to decide whether it can go into the vote.)
  • We reserve the right to request .PSD (or other layered formats from GIMP or Paint Shop Pro etc) files and/or source pictures if we believe your entry was not your own work.
  • It must have a strong connection to the theme.

    (If I sniff out a cheater/plagiarizer, they'll be banned for one future competition at the very least. Oh, and trust me, I have a good nose for finding plagiarized material)

The Conditions of Entry
  • You are allowed to enter ONE signature.
  • You are allowed to edit and change your entry as much as you like (NOT in new posts) until the cut off period!

Entries must be in no later then August 14th!

Signatures are used in the forums as a statement or image presenting an idea, your town, your character, or whatever. The one below is an example of a signature. To create a signature, your best bet is a graphics program. I use Photoshop, other commercial versions are Photoshop Elements, Corel Paint, and Painter. For a list of free graphics programs, visit this site --- > http://www.freebyte.com/graphicprograms/

I will only post my entry at the very last minute before closing time. My signature is made and ready to enter. Just a suggestion, maybe instead of posting sigs here, we could sent our entries to you via pm, then you Becca, could post it here when the closing date expires?

Yeah I agree with that because the older the post is the more forgetable the signature is....
Btw I also have ready my sig for August Sotm...

Yeah also, your sig could give other people new ideas and stuff. I guess you should only post here if you want others to see and discuss.

Well the sig is supposed to be your idea and not inspired by others...

Ok guys, heres my attempt. I haven't used Photoshop for about 3 years now and I am just trying to get to grips with it again.
Oh well here goes.

Na, no PM's, that would just mess up my in-box. That, and goodness forbid someone wants to modify what they entered. I think part of the challenge is for your signatures to stand up under the spotlight of being on display. When I used to enter the SOTM when Gem was running it, I would enter mine early, and I never won once, but I just enjoyed the comments and suggestions that I recieved.
(I also never won because I was still relearning how to use Photoshop at the time :laugh:, sheesh some of my entries were frightening now that I look back at them)

Read the fist post, it explains all the rules. You are only permitted to enter one signature.
